Biloxi Mississippi?

If God were to give the world an enema, he'd insert it in Biloxi.

It isn't so bad.  On the bright side, you probably won't have to stay there your whole life.

Not anymore it isn't MT.  Both of my grandparents have lived there their whole lives, and I lied there in the 70's.  Land was cheap then, and there was no such thing as a "job" available, with the exception of some tourism and Keesler AFB.  However, the casinos have  busted it wide open, and land is no longer cheap, but the jobs still are.

It is actually a lovely place, sugar white sand, Huge old oaks,  clear streams and dense pine forests, and the people are not like the sterotypical Mississippian of the rest of the state.  It is more like Florida than the red clay Mississippi we all like to make fun of.

Biloxi is a beautiful place to visit, especially the roadway paralleling the Sound.  It does look like Florida in many ways.  There's a nice schooner excursion to (uninhabited) Horn Island several miles offshore, if you're into nature and the outdoors.

There are very good restaurants with great seafood aplenty.  All in all it's a popular convention location and a one hour drive from New Orleans.

If you go there, Biloxi is pronounced Be-lucks-eee, not Be-locks-eee!!!  (Lest ye beknownst as a tourist or yankee.):)

There is also the tourboat to Ship Island, which has a great old fort.  The water in the sound is not very clear because of the Pearl river, but on the other side of the islands it is nice.

The Isle of Capri casino is named after a real island located near Horn Island and Petit Bois Island.  There is an island that "disappears" in that area.  There is supposedly an artesian well there with fresh drinking water.  It submerged back in the early 1930's and hasn't reappeared yet.  However one day this island will re-appear with fresh artesian well water and all.   There was a casino and resort on this island for 20 years or so before it went under water.  Very interesting.  And it's supposed to reappear from time to time...over hundreds of years probably.

Just kinda neat folklore for that area.:D
