Title: Tsunami Relieft - How Can One Send Material?
Post by: Vudak on January 19, 2005, 01:12:12 PM
My bosses are trying to send clothes to aid the tsunami relief fund...  So far they've found absolutely no agency that will take them.  Instead, they've been told to auction the clothes off in a tag sale and send the money in.

People in remote areas will then be given the money to buy clothing in shops that may not even exist, is what my bosses fear.

So, does anyone know of any agency that definately will take clothes?

Or even an address of a place in the affected regions where we can put them in a box, pay the postage, and ship them out ourselves?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I have tried to tell him that sending clothing to the equator is not the most helpful thing....  But....

Vudak, I looked around and it seems most of the orgs I know of that were collecting hard items such as clothing have already sent their stuff. You might check with local churches and hindu centers to see if they are still collecting or planning additional trips.

Hey thanks, I'll tell the boss tomorrow, and maybe he'll send me on a little field trip :)
