Usually Big5 sell M44 for 179 but until saturday price is 79$. FYI for gun collectors.

M44 nagant? M44's go for 80 bucks at max. Head to a gunshow and you can hand pick a great one for about 60 bucks, maybe less if the guy isn't being a jerk.

I've never saw M44 or M91/30 for anything less then 150 at gunshows. I live in Socialist Republic of Kalifornia so that might be reason for price.

I once saw a 91/30 over 90 bucks at a gun show.
Once.

Saw a real clean M91/30 for $80 at a show here last weekend. There were several 44s but I didn't pay much attention to the price since I'm looking for a 1938.
Online wholesales have them listed in the $60 - $90 range.
Saw a lot of Russian capture K98 mausers from 1 dealer, cleaned up, going for $350 to $400 at the show. That's a rip off.

10 days waiting period is over and today I took my baby to shooting range. She fires nicely.

Second image is at 50 meters, during and after ranging in. Hits in black are after ranging in.

Good shooting Russian, took my Hex 91/30 and my M44 out today as well to Peavine Mt. outside of Reno. First time shooting them, and was pretty much digging it. Had some sticking problems with the silver tip, but I assume it's a matter of now cleaning them proper and getting them oiled up. Maybe the silver tip varnish case is just that sticky. We shall see. Fun though.

I also enjoy my MN 91/30. Mine was made in 1942 so I enjoy the historic aspect of it along with it being cheap Plenty of inexpensive ammo is also nice.
I'm looking into possibly getting a SVT-40 in the near future, fires the same round just a semi-auto Russian WWII rifle.

i would like one to mak but they are pricey.

Hell yes Bsky. And the price isn't going down. I want one, but just can't unload that much yet. Have to make due with the M44, and get a Makarov in the mean time.

That’s a hefty price. If I’m going to drop that much cash, I would rather buy Romanian copy of SVD/Tiger which costs same as SVT40.

My M44 sticks too so I don’t think its ammos fault. When I got M91/30, bolt was sticking too but after 3-5 times at the range problem went away.
I really do like M44. It feels that recoil is slightly less then M91/30 and iron sight is better. And firing standing up is much easier. Nice rifle over all.

Just ordered a 1941 Finn M-39 with a 1898 receiver and some of that striping on the stock they are known for and 80 percent original bluing. $229 from WGA. A lot of cosmoline too from the description. Ordered an ex condition Soviet M-38 at the same time for $100. Should be here this week :) Now to get some ammo and wait for the weather to settle a bit.

$650, YIKES! Hmm, I had read they were in the $350-400 range. I'm going to a gun show next weekend, will see if any are about and the price.
Russian, the M44 bayonet is non-removable correct? I've read that the aim can be off a bit unless the bayonet is deployed. Supposedly they were sighted in with the bayonet. Have you noticed any problems with it? I would feel silly firing it with the bayonet deployed. :)

Correct, M44 bayonet is none-removable. M38 is same as M44 but with out bayonet.
I fired at 50 meters with bayonet closed and it was shooting dead-on. But I did sighted-in with bayonet closed. I’ll have to see how it does at 100 meters with bayonet extended. I didn’t know about sighting with deployed bayonet, thanks for that info.
