Title: Help With Joystick Calibration
Post by: Reklaw on January 23, 2005, 12:44:44 AM
I have a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro.

My problem, which I apparently had with my old joystick upon using it in AH2, now that I recall (I bought a new one because that one sticks to the left), is that my throttle doesn't seem to be acting like a throttle at all.

I'll launch from the runway, auto takeoff engaged, and if my throttle (which the game says is a "slider," not the "Z Axis," which is what turning the actual handle left/right does) is all the way down, I turn right.  If the throttle is all the way up, I turn left.  If it's perfectly in the middle, I wobble like mad.  At all times I never pick up enough speed to actually get off the ground.

It's as though my throttle has been mapped to my ailerons or something, somehow.  Everything else works fine by default.  This is my only problem.  I found one existing thread with apparently the same issue, as the guy mentioned it was the same joystick and mentioned the problem at one point, but the issue was never resolved, as the focus was on changing the stick's map file, which kept getting overwritten mid-game.

Any advice on this would be appreciated.  I can't find any solutions online using keywords I can think up, and I can't seem to figure it out on my own.

Sounds like it has the rudder & throttle inputs reversed. If so the easiest way to fix it is just go into AH. Setup/controls/joystick/select joystick.

In the left window select the input you wish to change, ie throttle, highlight it. Right window select the axis. Click set input.

My twisty handle stick has throttle as z axis, rudder axis = RZ btw.

BTW make sure everything is correct in windows first. ie throttle moves throttle, and rudder moves rudder. If you have a twisty grip stick you may have to check a checkbox to enable rudder.
