Title: Special Event Idea

I have had an idea for a special event that I think would be fun.

Simple map... 2 bases... maybe 50 or 75 miles apart....

two even teams

only fighters flying.....

The two teams leave each field at the same time and climb to the same alt.

These two massive hordes :p fly into each other head on.....

No reups.... when you die you are done....

Last man standing wins.....

opinions?

Ya but i think he means a two team 1 life furball as opposed to KOTH rules. Sounds fun to me.

I've never heard of "The Rumble" either, but it sounds great.  We should have one once a week, not once a year.

I think I'll email Hitech and see what it would take to get something like this together.  Maybe get a few planes to just circle the furball and record video then make a film out of it.....


oh and think of the braging rights for the winner....


A few more rules though....

No Running!!!!  Once you are in the fight you are there for good.  

No RTB'ing because you've lost a rudder or allieron or something weak like that.. fight till she falls out of the sky!!!

There's this forum at the top of the page called Special events announcements.  There's another one further down called Special events general and several more pertaining to specific events.  Have a read some time.

Anyway back to the point, do a BBS search for 'the rumble' and you'll see what I'm talking about.  Traditionally the event has been Axis v Allies and effectively player run, with the CM teams assistance setting up the special event area.

You want a rumble?  

Fine, build it and they will come.  I'll even volunteer to set the arena up for you, provided the event is at a Euro friendly time and doesn't interfere with any other events being run.

Yes "The Rumble" is great fun! Count the 68th in, I have flown in 4 of them we do it one time a year.I like it better than King of the hill because it is about team work.:aok

With Swoops help things are starting to move forward.  


I'll ask around while I'm in the game tonight but I'll post here too.


Anyone want to build the map for this?  I've got a few ideas on how to set it up, just need someone who knows how.


Also I'll be needing a CO for the second team if anyone would like to recomend someone.


Looks like we are going to do something like 60 vs. 60 on this.  Hopefully I can get things sorted and we can start signing people up in the next few days.


This is gonna be cool!

What's the maximum number of planes that can fly within dot range of each other without lag or frame rate problems?  If the battle takes place over water, not near any fleets or ports, and pilots reduce the level and distance of detail along with "short vis range" that will help a little, but if you put 120 aircraft within a 10-mile circle...   :(

Even half that many would probably cause some serious problems, no?

I'm a computer moron, so I'd like to know what you all think.
