Made this for what else but Pearl Harbor. Good thing about objects not functioning as the real thing is this will limit the amount of ack when attacking. In maps where cruisers replace the battleships, you gotta be lucky to get a B5N lined up long enough to drop the torpedo and see it hit.

Looks really nice, Raptor. Good job! :)
But... can I ask how many polygons are in that model?
-
lol knew someone had to ask that...
Total objects: 1185 surfaces: 1591 vertices: 6883
-
lol... and how many ships were anchored at Pearl?
You see where I'm going with this, right? ;)
The painful truth is, no matter how beautiful a model may be (and yours certainly is), a model that size just can not be used in a terrain. There's the same amount of polys in your model as there are in about 50 Task Groups and another 50 HQs.
Please consider this as constructive advice, but get into the habit of thinking about low polys from the start. Think about what you can detail with a texture map, and alpha channels. Heck, you can make a cube look like a sphere if you texture it right.
I'm anxious to see more of what you can do, though. Please keep building! :)

:lol
Download Pearl Harbor! Comes with free video card upgrade:aok

lol... just came back from editing above.
Be the first to order the 3 DVD terrain set!

Oh... one more thing: have you thought about making a "dead" shape for that? It's a feature we will be having.
-
This is my first model so I really wasnt paying attention to polycount.
I started out not using alot of detail on it then once i got the hull finished I started getting into it and began putting alot of stuff on it. Heck I even put rails on the thing:lol
I can just throw this in the back of my computer for about 5 years and wait for computers to get better. Then we'll be set:aok

Man, I know the feeling. I think modelling is one of the most fun things you can do with a computer. It's so easy to keep adding stuff and never really ever finish it. :)
Build a fully detailed version of all your ideas... then you can make a nice poster or screenshot and really knock some socks off. You can also use the full-detail version to form a plan for the low-detail version.

I havent made a dead object for it, I could do it easily by just taking the tower and rotate it so its tilting and sticks out of the water a little.
what would I name the dead object for it to work properly
(going to try to use this, but will try to atleast cut object count in half if it murders framerates)
-
I don't know the naming details yet... they'll tell us when the new OE/TE is released.
-
Cool.:aok
-
stop the madness!
-
Dux - any ballparks on Sufaces/vertices counts for objects.
HT said there will be 3-4 LOD for objects as well as dead shapes. ( I presume there would be 3-4 LODs for those also)
Anyhoo - just curious.

I've asked the question, Waffle... you'll find out as soon as I do. :)

how do u do that lol been gone a while lots of things have changed have object editor any one have a help file :D
