Title: Keyboard problems.
Post by: Saintaw on January 26, 2005, 09:03:41 AM
Maybe one of you nerds can help me.

Ever since I set my new puter up, I'm having keyboard woes...

It's the same Logitech keyboard I had before (using same drivers). It's set to "French (belgium)".

In gmes like Half Life 2 or MOHPA, it won't recognise the keyboard arrow keys (When I try to set those, the game recognises it as 'SHIFT', no matter what direction I use)

I can't play with 'wasd', have been using arrow keys for years.

How can I fix this? (it used to work on my older puter with the same keyboard/settings)

I play with wasd, its just more functional.  Its next to all the other keys.  I know it seems hard right now, but it shouldn't take you more than 30 minutes to get used to it.

I tried that with DOOM3, 'cause I had no choice... doesn't work for me. Maybe when you get past a certain age... ;)

Re: Setting it in english
I will try that, but as i said... it used to work fine before in french mode (waits for witty comeback from random O'clubber)

Hmm
1) are you sure the default language is set to French Belgian in Keyboard layout IME? You can set this in regional  & language options Control panel.
2) Have you set the English or US English language to French Belgian Keyboard layout IME? (that might be the games problem)
3) Have you deleted the US keyboard wherever it is?
4) If it's a wireless keyboard have you tried putting in new batteries?

Here in the States we call that "Kickball" It's a past time for women and children. You may also substitute a tin can. Then it's called "kick the can".

Sigh, still not workee!

Dead, I tried US, UK, FR and BE. Not to avail.

I tried deleting all of the others (tries that with leaving only US/UK/BE). Nada

It's not wireless, Its a USB (set on a PS2 adaptor).

Most games recognise the keyboard, only HL2/Doom3/MOHPA have this problem.

try to put

bind "UPARROW" "_forward"
bind "DOWNARROW" "_back"
bind "LEFTARROW" "_moveLeft"
bind "RIGHTARROW" "_moveRight"

in your Doomconfig.cfg

and

bind "UPARROW" "+forward"
bind "DOWNARROW" "+back"
bind "LEFTARROW" "+moveLeft"
bind "RIGHTARROW" "+moveRight"

in the config.cfg of Half Life 2/MOHPA

BTW Saw - not surprised you can't use 'wasd' on a French keyboard. That's strictly for the qwerty keyboarders. ;)
