Post by: Light on January 26, 2005, 10:01:07 PM
Hello,

Is there a way to fly with the mouse and not have to hold the right mouse button down all the time?

  Thanks

Not to be a wise guy, but you can buy a joystick at places like staples or circuit city for like 20 bucks. They wont come with all the bells and whistles that the more pricey sticks come with but it'll sure be nicer than a mouse.

Hey street,

I do have a nice j-stick. I love it. I just can no longer use it due to some things with me. So I have to fly with the mouse now.  And if anyone knows how to fly without holding down the right mouse button all the time. Or knew how to reverse the actions so you hold the button down to move the pointer... It would help me to keep playing AH. Otherwise I will not be able to play anymore...

 Thanks

 Light...

I have seen and talked to a few people flying with mouse - and doing that pretty well i might add - in training arena.

Try going there and asking around, youll prbably find someone who can help you.

Or try shooting skuzzy an email, and explain. Maybe he can tell you wich settings you have to change.

Usually you can fly without holding right mouse button and hold it to move the mouse pointer.

Need to check key settings... maybe shift m is what you looking for?

unhook your old stick from the pc, should fix that right fast...if it is unhooked now, unhook any other game controllers you have hooked up...

Hmmm, mouse should be working to control the planes control surfaces without holding down the right mouse button. The right mouse button should be used to move the cursor around the screen. If your mouse has a center wheel then it should default as a throttle.

A couple of thing abouts using a mouse...you may not be able to control normal functions like auto pilot (x key) as the mouse has a tendency to drift enough to pop the "auto hold" function. That means if you want to take off and get a drink as you climb out you will prolly have to take off again when you get back to the computer. Also, views will be limited to the keypad (as opposed to a hat on top of a stick). This can be a disadvantage when  losing sight means you may lose the fight.

Let me know if I can be of any further help with either your mouse or old stick.
