Title: Should Rodney Marsh have been sacked?

(before you read, you should know that David Beckham is notoriously stupid, and the Newcastle United supporters are known as the Toon Army)

"Beckham would never move to Newcastle because of all the trouble caused by the Toon Army in Asia."

Newcastle United are a football team, get 50,000 or so crazy supporters that watch them every week. their crazy supporters are known as the 'Toon Army'.

David Beckham is possibly the worlds most famous sportsman, and notoriously stupid.

David Beckham was linked with a move to Newcastle United.

Rodney Marsh made the following comment making a joke about Beckham's supposed stupidity by making a play of words on Tsunami / Toon Army: -

"Beckham would never move to Newcastle because of all the trouble caused by the Toon Army in Asia."

And was promptly fired after 10 years + working for Sky Sports.

Post by: Yeager on January 27, 2005, 02:02:37 PM: Got it. Sounds like a pretty legitimate statement to me. But the toon army sounds like a large and rabbid special interest group and no doubt needed to be fed a bloody head on a silver platter.

One must always consider the impact associated with free speech I guess.
