Title: IBM ThinkPad:Video Card Options
Post by: RightF00T on January 28, 2005, 04:59:25 PM
Hey guys, got a laptop that doesn't support Hardware T&L. I desperately want to get back to AH and I was just wondering what video card options are out there or if anyone has an old one laying around that would be compatible.

System Specs
IBM Thinkpad 1.5Ghz
Windows XP Pro
256MB
Direct X9.0c

Thanks Alot!

What model Thinkpad is it? I've got a T40, but the only thing that you can change is the RAM.

Unless the stinkpad is one of the new models with PCI-Express buses, you can't change the displaycard as it's built in the motherboard.

Its a Thinkpad R51, has a PCI slot on the side I believe. Squaddie told me I would be much better off just building my own desktop.  Sounds feasible to me..

He was right. A desktop system with a similar price will give you considerably more performance.

Reversely you can put up a similar desktop system for about half the price.
