Last night, fooling around in the DA, I went a sector and a half, and on the return trip I tried a level run in WEP at 5K. At about 40% fuel in the main tanks, I ran a steady 347MPH on autopilot for 4 minutes on WEP according to the E6B. In the P-38J.

I have data on a P-38J tested at Eglin Field in 1943.
Full internal fuel and ammo at takeoff (normal gross weight)
Sea Level Speed: 345 mph.
Max at critical alt: 421.5 @ 25,800 feet.
Max climb from Sea Level: 4,000 fpm.

so, you're saying the AH p38 climb rate is porked widewing?

No, it's about right. P38 climbs like a bat outta hell in AH2. Most of the time my climb meter is pegged at the "4" on the dial.
