Title: CTD since 1/29/04 patch implemented.
Post by: SunKing on January 29, 2005, 04:05:13 PM
Haven't had a CTD since the patch that introduced the M262. After todays patch I get one constantly.

Running textures @ 1024 along with the 1024 pack.

Also since this patch I'm locking up going near furballs. Didn't do this yesterday at all. Something is up with the newest patch.

Do you have anti-aliasing enabled in your video card?

Also, how much ram does your system have?

And, do you have any of the preload options, in the game, checked?

Skuzzy,

Just formatted and my system is running strong and clean.

I'm running a 3200+ 64  AMD @ 2.4mhz
1 gig of Corsair TWINX1024-3200XLPRO

my card is a 9700Pro with CAT 5.1 drivers

AA 6x
AF 16x
Vsynce on

Game video settings check are

1024X1280

x Preload in system
x Preload skins
x Hardware Vertex Processing
x Max  Frame Rate Unlimited

On video settings I have all the sliders at default with the "detail" slider full.

game runs fine with a fps @ 85 either in 1024 or 512 textures.

You probably will have problems using 1024 texture sizes with anti-aliasing.  Your video card will run out of ram and be forced to swap a lot.
You should be seeing some stutters with that configuration.

SunKing, are you saying that a full format fixed your original issue?

You should be seeing momentary stutters in the game with those settings.  However, we have temporarily disabled 'skins' so the issue might not be as prevalent.
Once skins are re-enabled, you may go back to seeing stutters and pauses when engaging in a large furball.

No, what I meant is a day before 2.02 was released I did a full format... so chipset drivers, video card drivers ect are not my issue. I really didn't see any stutters at all unless I uncheck preload skins then I noticed the game stutter looking for skins on HDD when I 1st encountered each of them.

On sunday I had 10 ctd's...I tried turning off antialiasing, going back to 512 textures all reboots after a change .Nothing has helped. I have never had this problem since Sat.... AH has always been stable. I have not installed new software either. I even reinstalled AH2 on Sunday and still CTD's.. Im at a loss along with a few tigers..

Ty for your response..Oh BTW the stutters you mentioned were very far and few, useually only my first 10 min or so after loging on...My vid Card memory use in 1024 trexture mode is around 30 -40mb....
