I got the same error: on manual install of the update from 2.06 to 2.2.1
sounds/debris.wav could not be opened

Kamori,
Same problem here. It preloads several things to memory and then, when this process finishes, it dumps me to Desktop.
Debris.wav couldn't be updated too.
There's just one difference from our reports, I use Win2000 and not XP. :(

you guys using external 3rd party soundpacks? or the default one that loaded?
here's a debris.wav - d/l and stick it in your sounds folder. Right click and save target as....
debris.wav (http://www.dangreve.com/debris.wav)
if it helps good - if not...i don't know whats up....

I am experiencing the same exact thing, Kamori.. tried it 4 times and after running through the preloading scripts, it crashes me to desktop with a Windows error report dialogue box.

Hey Waffle,
I'm not using any sound packs, standard stuff.
I put your debris.wav in my sound directory and now get this error
"...is not a valid previous version and could not be upgraded."
Thanks for trying though!

for grins did you try replacing it with the above debris.wav?
The one above is from my soundpack.

I downloaded the full version of 2.02 patch1 and removed the buggy old updated version from the add/remove control panel. After installing the full installation, everything works fine. All of my old settings were there too.
