I'm done..no more shooting down megadud.....i'ma still pay the 15
just incase i wanna come back...
It's been fun
THE megaSTUD :D

Mega, this game has the largest learning curve of any game out there I think.
If i were to quit everytime I got shot down I'd be quiting 100 times a day.
The best thing you can do is to get back in the plane and keep fighting and pushing yourself to get better. If you dont push yourself and your plane you'll never learn.
Thats all I guess I really have to say.

fly la7's until you're competent ;)
-
AHHHH you quiter
-
QUITTER!! QUITTER!!! boo to you!!!! lol
Dont quit bud look at me! ive been on for a year and still learned barely anything...
ok bad example... lol Stick with it!! your a good stick :)
-
Dude ...... I flew AW for 4 years or so before I got here. It still took about 1 week Just for the Dead Spins to stop:D Hang in there it gets better:aok
Crims
479th Raiders
PS Fly offline it may help

The wetrat dude ??
-
What we never went to the DA!
-
You know what guys, I think this is just a cry for help!
-
I played AW1,2 & 3, WB and I've been playing AH since it was a free beta. I still suck but...I still have fun. Look at all the pals you have that don't want you to give up, they'd miss the easy kills....lol, just kidding.
-
heheh...I thought the object of the game was to maneuver your plane to your opponents 12:00 and then fly straight and level.
If it ain't...don't tell me. I may quit. Its the only thing I have mastered.
-
No one likes a quiter!! Stick around, Ill teach you everything Ive learned about getting your butt kicked.:aok
-
I am a terrible pilot also, so i spend 80% of my time on the ground in the Osties and tanks. The learning curve to become a decent tanker is definetely alot shorter then to be a decent pilot.
So i spend 80 percent of my time having lots of fun blowing things up with my panzer, you guys that do nothing but drive tigers are pus$ies. I have plenty of perk points for a tiger but refuse to be Pus$y , after all tigers are nothing more then big pus$y cats anyways!!!
Then at the end of a session of tanking i will Fly around and take my beatings as i try to become a better pilot.
-
Get back on the horse and try again. Don't quit...
I'd recommend you stop trash talking until you have at least 3 months of solid time under your belt. No one normally likes teaching those that throw around an attitude.
-
what's a matter richard,u don,t like something that was a dominant force on the battlefield, and struck much FEAR into the Allies?
Quit cryin, and be lucky we don,t have the King Tiger!
-
mega, you're not quiting, lets face it.
.....even if you change your name again (im certain you played before 'megadud' ;) )
am i the only one smelling something fishy here??
:)
-
mega dont give up.. you have the attitude (well alittle too much attitude ) to excell here .. its just a huge learning curve to get to the top .
I myself came from other flight sims befor this .... I worked my way up to the top of the FA crowd .. and moonlited in here when this came out ... but when I made this my home i was at the bottem of the food chain ... ask anyone I was total food for about a year (hell Ole Lev beat up on me constantly among others ) well one day after watching repeated films and help from another player it finally went click ... and voila I became a Furballing scratching for kills machine ..
what your doing is going after the Top Aces here .. and your not really ready yet.
my advise is to keep up with training and master 1 vs 1 fights ... then move on to 2 vs 1 .... then you'll be ready for the huge furball (15 to 1 ) total crazy get nuts type furballing that some of us live for .. (and yes we do die alot )
theres also other options of play to this game , from gv's ,jabo's , buffs , cv operations , ect ...

you big wussy megadud... you can't quit, and thats an order!!
you no longer deserve the megastud nickname i gave you!
I think he is upset because he decided to fly at a furball where a few choice knit players were flying last night, and he happened to die a few times :D

Been there Done that ... Ran across the 13th BK's in a group ... Talk about sent to hell in a hurry ... (At least they Dropped Flowers )
instead of diving into the furball like us loony's do,,, perhaps he should wait along the edge and pick off the unsuspecting ones ...

Megadud
You just don't get it do you?
This is NOT a game you can master in 3 days, 3 weeks, or perhaps even in 3 years.
Granted everyone learns at his own pace, and yours has been fast till now.
Relax, play the game and enjoy it! You do not have to win every fight to have a good time.
Even if you could master AH in 6 months, if you did in another 6 months you'd be so burned out you'd be gone.
There is always going to be somebody who is a shade faster, sneakier, smarter, luckier.
You've just reached the top of your first big plataeu. Got pretty darn high at that looks to me. Sooner you relax & quit trying so hard the sooner you'll find yourself climbing again.

Yeah ... good idea ... Leviathn likes to hang around there too.

Mega you can't quit! Where else am I going to hear lines like:
"Even a blind squirrel finds a nut now and then"
Or
"I can't make right turns! I am like a freaking Zoolander!"
-
or.. you could just drive a bomber or gv and never get good.

Well stated.
MegaDud, you were doing very well. Yeah, you were getting beat on the merge a lot, but believe me, the merge is one of the toughest aspects of ACM to master. Nobody gets it down pat in a couple of months. The Spitfire V is a great furballer, very capable when Co-E with enemies. However, ultra-fast, rocket-like climbers such as the F4U-4 and La-7 can be very difficult to cope with, especially when the enemy pilot refuses to get sucked into a low-speed brawl.
The true experts in this game have learned how to equalize E states quickly. They know how to work angles for a shot. Perhaps more importantly, they know how to convert a disadvantage into an asset. Learning these things takes time and a lot of combats.
As it is now, you can beat the average player without much trouble. Keep working on your skill level, but don't become discouraged when the best sticks in the game beat you. I suggest that you concentrate on improving one aspect of the game at a time. Don't overload yourself with too many goals. Keep it simple. I like the idea of setting different goals for each week of a tour.
Also, when you visit the TA, try this: Announce that you are a free-fire target. Invite everyone to attack you. Yeah, most are noobs, but a dozen noobs will keep you busy. Few exercises develop your SA like this one can. And, since being pinged doesn't damage your aircraft, you just keep on brawling until gas or ammo is exhausted. I'm of the opinion that one huge 20 minute furball is frequently more beneficial than 20 one minute furballs. You have the time to rethink things while still in the fight.
Practice gunnery. Practice it a lot. Again, the TA is perfect for this. One consistent factor found in most of the really good pilots is superior gunnery. They rarely miss an opportunity. In most fights, you will get at least one opportunity. Guys like Leviathn and Nomak will capitalize on the opportunity 90% of the time.
I know that school is an issue for you, wanting to concentrate more on that. By all means, don't let a game interfere with your studies. But, when you need a break from the books, log on and work on those things that need attention. And concentrate on having fun. It matters little how good you get if you are not enjoying yourself.
My regards,
Widewing

Thats a good piece of advice, i still like to set myself targets to try and accomplish each tour, be it kills/sorties, kills/death, rank etc etc. It works really well, and, once you have accomplished it, you will wonder how you ever had difficulty with it in the first place.

LOLOL I remember that! Mega's joystick went zonkers and he could not roll to the right. Does that bother him? No, he goes right back into the fight. I hope someone reminded him that 3 lefts = a right.
Anyway, he finally fixed it by re-calibrating, but he was as funny as hell over the vox.

Sorry Bat, but you are way off. LoL, I bet Mega's havin a blast with everyone thinking he's played before:) I saw the commercial in Nov and have always liked flight sims so though I'd give it a whirl. Mega watched and would play on my account and finally after a few weeks he was hooked and started his own. I assure you, there's nuthin fishy about mega.

Mega its only a game. Relax, have fun and fly around. No one can ever give you the ability to be good at this game. You just have to work at it. It'll come with time.
I think everyone gets ticked off at one time or another playing. The ones who brush it off and get back in the saddle faster are the ones having the most fun.

I could not disagree more. Everytime I take a GV up for anything other than an AA role in base defense I get my arse handed to me. At least I can maintain a positive k/d ratio in the air. The ground war was too difficult to figure out for me, so I gave up a few years ago.

I think I'm going to be at that 3 year mark before I'm good. Was in a Spit 9 last week. Was down low and slow and saddled up behind a juicy P-51 on the deck (with low-E). Can't ask for a better scenario. 1 Minute later he was behind me and i was shot down. Talk about humiliating.
I feel his pain. Prob is, to many of us, the term "Fun" and "shooting people down" are one in the same. Week-in and week-out playing perk-bait (and paying for it) just plain sucks. For all of you that have stuck it out I give a huge . Must take one heck of a patient person to do this. I think you are probably a rare breed. Im sure if we had access to Hightechs account logs we would see MANY people have decided not to stick it out. I don't think he deserves a tongue-lashing from any of you. His posting does sound like a cry for help or he would have just silently deleted his account .
Don't feel bad..your not the only one who isn't any good. Im sticking it out myself, but I don't blame you if you dont.
-
Yeah Bat, I tell him he's better than most newbies all the time. He challanges people such as you, Morph and all the "best" players and gets frustrated when he loses? True after repeated beatings he'll slowly get better but he wants results right after a fight. I tell him if he were to fight someone who's also been here for 3 months he'd clean their clock. But does he listen to me... NOOOOOO:D Ya reading this Mega?
-
Oh and Morph, if you think that's bad. Imagine having to interact with him on a fairly regular basis:eek:
-
The best way to learn isn't to duel people who are vastly better than you or vastly inferior to you. The key is to find a "duel buddy," someone who is of roughly equal skill. The fun of dueling against a duel buddy is in experimenting to see if you can discover something that works against him that you hadn't tried before. It's all about having fun and trying new things.
In Air Warrior, my duel buddy was Jase. In Aces High, it was NathBDP. Mega, why not find a duel buddy and just enjoy yourself?

Dunno what he's complaining about. Looks like he knows how to fly...

Very good advice here.

Ahhh NathBDP. Haven't seen that name in a while. One of my "coming of AH age" memories is beating Nath in his 109, hearing him call low fuel and letting him go to land at a V base, only for him to then talk smack about it. Of course, close runner up is the time I nailed him with a 5" fleet gun outside icon range, him ranting on ch 1 and then getting booted for a week. Ahhh, memories... Anyone know where he is now?
-
Ya know what's sad.... you can't even quit right!
-
heh, sooner or later he will discover like many of us have, that there IS no quiting this game.
Once in, your always IN. I tried. Twice. Once, this last time I thought I was going to have to due to real life cicumstances. I somehow managed to work around them. Funny how this game will make you do that.
In the end its not the planes, the kills or the fights that keep me tied to this thing on a very short leash. Its the people and friends I've made here and the fun I have flying with them.
Morph

hes back already

HE'S ALREADY BACK! lol
{edit} Furball, I see you've joined the good side:D

And btw Super, there is no "good side". There are only sides and they are all the same.
-
What are you trying to say Morph? Sounds like nit propaganda to me! First you give me this line, next it's,"Why don't you come over to nits for a day?" Next thing I know I'm a red guy:eek: Which leaves me to ask... when you joinin the good side:D
-
I switch sides when I find there are no fights on the Nits side or the nits have way more numbers than I like to fly with. When they side im on gets to the point where they have 40-50 more players than the other two, I start to think about switching sides.
Trust me when I tell you... They ARE all the same in regards to finding fights, fighting ect. Numbers move up, they move down, they even out. You'll almost always see me on the side with the lowest numbers. Unless my squadies are all on in which case we are Nights now, so that's where I'll be.
I'm loyal to my squad and squadies... Not to some imaginary chess peice.
Morph
-
I know Morph, just messin with ya. Country means little to me, but my squad is currently rooks so here I'll stay. That and I've gotten to know some of the guys flyin for rooks and we have fun.

Come back to the Dark side Morph ...:D
