Order of the Spoon!

Recruits were told upon being inducted into the army, to bring with them a large spoon. This is known as'`the big spoon order". The spoon, when not in use, is carried tucked handle down into one of the boots.

"right lads, if you advance the germans will slaughter you all, if you try and retreat, we will slaughter you all. if you win we will send you somewhere else and slaughter you all, if you lose, you have already been slaughtered. so the orders for today are to die, die and die some more.

OH! i almost forgot, have you all got your spoons?"


one rifle between two or three of you, but at least you've all got your spoon.
