Title: Gray fog/clouds slowdown help
Post by: jaystang87 on January 30, 2005, 11:37:17 AM
regardless of which graphics settings i choose, whenever im flying i constantly get bombarded with these long polygonic gray lines that seem to be either fog or clouds.  whatever it is it slows my play down from about 30fps to around 7, and i can't see anything other than the gray lines filling the screen.  how can i turn this off?? (i was thinking maybe i could turn off all weather somehow and that would get rid of it? but i cant figure out how)

thanks

I have not seen anything like this.  What video card and driver are you using?

Have the same kind of effect with cloud when I use my laptop.
I haven't been able to get rid of the effect.

However, the laptop only has  sis650 graphics, so I'm not holding much hope. I do get FR that are playable however (mid 30's).

It would be nice to be able to disable weather to alleviate the problem, although I have no idea how big of a task that would be (or even if it is possible).

Jaystang, go off line and load a map that doesn't have any weather ( try the dueling arena map). I think what you are seeing is cloud not being rendered properly, as I am.

Fortunately for me, I only use the laptop when I'm on the road.

Any ideas Skuzzy?

cheers,
RTR

I get the same thing in the clouds, and have mondo graphics problems when using a PT boat or gun on the ship, could send a screenshot if you like. Squaddies however tell me its my graphics controller so I am buying a GForce or something soon.
Graphics controller is an Intel 82845G which I think is on board.

All bets are off if it is an Intel graphics chip.  Those chips have a lot of problems with a bunch of games.
