This is one for you photo-shop guys.
Have a look at this page.
It looks like the Insurgents snapped a picture of a GI Joe type doll!

I'm calling BS on this one.
Look at the gun pointed at his head.
No one appears to be holding it.
And it looks odd.
Any thoughts?
-
OMG!!! I hope you are right.
-
Why does that M16(or AR15) to the right have a stick like handle coming down from the handguard?
-SW
-
From MSNBC:
"NBC News counterterrorism analyst Evan Kohlman said some details in the picture appear to be doctored."
The more I look at it, the more it appears fake. :D
-
If this is true, they are a hell of a lot dumber than I thought. They'll do in one second what the United States has been trying to do for years - make them appear as fools.
The other possibility is its some geek pretending to be a terrorist or an intentional hoax. Either way I hope they catch the fool.
Maybe its the CIA saying "gotcha" to the media?
-
Why would they hold his OWN weapon to his head?
Could it be they did not have a 2" AK-47 handy?
-
Is 'Barbie' next.....?
-
The "Insurgent" soldier hasn't been put through the mold yet, complete with bomb vest and "lalalalala" voice generation.

It's a forward hand grip. You'll almost always see them on M4s (carbine version of M16). It aids weapon stability and is really usefull in CQC situations where you have a lot of situational- and tactics- generated weapon movement.

Interesting, I had never seen that before.
-SW
-
yep looks fake. look at the expression on the toy and the "picture". They are also now reporting that the "alledged shooting down of the c130" is also a fake video. The missile launched in the video does not seem to be an air to air missile.

No oil for Dolls!
I DEMAND that we bring our dolls home TODAY!
The head of one of our dolls is worth more than a 100 of the terrorists!
It is just too easy. I think Leno faked it just so he could use it in his monologue.
-
LOL! Local news just reported on the "story" with no mention of the barbie angle.
Charon

Nothing needs to be said about this one. :lol
-
I told him: "Joe, don't go. This isn't your fight!" and Joe replied "I will fight for freedom where ever there's trouble, GI Joe is
there! GI Joe, a real American hero, GI Joe is there!
And he left.

Shouldn't they be using a 30 round mag?
I don't know for sure, but the 20 round mag pictured was used on the VN models of M-16 and all the images coming from Iraq I have only seen 30 round mags.
Just my little take.
The gun looks disporportional somehow...I hope these words don't bite me in the rear if thats one of our boys.
-
Take that gun and try and hold it out in that position. If you dont have that gun, take a 10# sledgehammer and hold it horizontally by the last 4"'s of the handle.
-
Lizking,
If your signature is from a song - that's a great song. :)

It is, and it is.

Liam Cusack, of the toy manufacturer Dragon Models USA Inc., said the image bore a striking resemblance to the African-American version of its "Cody" action figure.
"It is our doll ... To me, it looks definitely like it is," Cusack told The Associated Press. "Everything the guy is wearing is exactly what comes with our figure. If you look at the two pictures side by side, it'd be a huge coincidence."
Free Cody!!!!

Oh my god it is GI JOE. How sad - Mattel should send a squad over in the Sky Strikers and wooop wooop!
-
I was gonna say his LBV (load bearing vest....the thingy that holds all his magazines Side-side note: the thing normally holds 30 round mags not 20.)
anyhow looks totally faked to me.
-
Wow 'cody' really looks pizzed. I hope 'Mel, Richard, Stanley, Jon, Jennifer, Fernando and Alex' get there in time to save him. Otherwise Osama will behead him.

Any guesses whether or not this is a western hoax planted on the web site?
-
I think any Le3t 13 year old from the US could have done a better job than that.

The A4 has the handgrip. My cousin's unit were issued those before shipping to Afghanistan last fall.
-
I am impressed with Joe's facial expression, It is extremely universal. He is obviously molded for many situations. Since these dolls were made to inspire creative immagination;
I imagine the pictured "Joe" somehow releases himself from his current bound position, then silenty kills alls detainers in his immediate proximity. He then orchestrates, co-ordinates and initiates, the release of his 3 S.O. buddies; Foley, Connor, & Bradley. The 4 S.O. "Joes" then proceed to overthrow the entire enemy compound, while in the process, they gather various weaponery, gain acces to radio communication and gain contact with H.Q. to set up a rendevous for extraction. On the way to the extraction point, they take out multiple infantry forces, and several armored vehicles.
Ahhhh, Good Times!

Nash...god, I hate you! I wish you would never post here again, because I hate you so much. I shall like to drown your arse!
Any good new bands you recommend?
-
Uhm... dunno if it'd be your thing, but I got Dios: Dios on right now.
-

Yes, a great thing in my opinion, people ripping of songs dont know what harm they actully do to the music industry.

iMusic (http://www.artistdirect.com/nad/listen/0,,,00.html)
Type in the name of the band that you're curious about, and listen. Sounds like crap, but it's enough to give ya an idea.
Personally, it doesn't me quite enough of an idea... It just lets me know if the band is worth checking out. Then I download off of Kazzaa and give them a real listen. If I'm gonna listen to it more than a couple of times, I buy the CD. If not, nobody loses.
This system causes me to dish out more on CDs than I usually did. Probably 4-6 a month.
-
Am I doing something wrong Nash? I went to the sight and typed Dios.....got about a 15 second clip of one song.
-
I just found how to get to more of their music.....kinda Beatlistic.....my kinda music
-
Figured. ;)
Kinda Beatles meets Pavement.
-
Dios sounds a little like Beatles.
Thanks Nash for the tip of both Dios and Imusic
-
well, I'd buy a cd. I like it.

This combination shows an image, left, posted on an Iraqi militant Web site on Tuesday Feb. 1, 2005 and an image provided by toy manufacturer Dragon Models USA of an action figure named " Cody" in a box. The Web site posted the photograph of what it claimed was a kidnapped U.S. soldier, but doubts were quickly raised about its authenticity and the U.S. military said no soldiers were missing. Dragon Models USA, said the figure in the photo resembled one of its military action figures originally produced for sale at U.S. bases in Kuwait. (AP Photo/Dragon Models USA, HO)
Well gee sold in kuwait....hmmm i think the media might just figure this one out...maybe
-
I have captured and tortured several GI Joes dolls over the years. If you light them on fire the plastic burns with an unusual ferocity (at least the mid 1970s type plastic) and as the little flaming droplets fall free (supposing GIJoe is in a freefall or similar altitude) they sound really cool. Sort of a crackling wizzing sound.
-
They must have the same producers as Dan Rather.
Was Dan "my source is impeccable, and want the story to be true therefore it is true" Rather consulted on this one?
:lol
-
I'm waiting for a pic showing "Mr. Bill" being menaced by "Mr. Hands" from Saturday Night Live as Hands announces his alignment with Zarqawi and Al-Qaida [mebbe Hands can wear a kaffiyeh on his wrist]. or... Barbie posed as Patty Hurst posing as "Tania" announcing the same with AK-47 brandished. I'm happy I'm not on the same side of history as these pathetic, vicious losers.
-
Wow Rasker,
People are pretty mad at the media nowadays but don't you think "pathetic, vicious losers" is a bit strong even if you're referring to Fox news?
-
I meant the terrorists, not CBS, but I can see how the that term "pathetic, vicious losers" could be read to apply to either.
