Hi all,
Me and my Bomber Squadron often wonder how much fuel we should take for our B17... sometimes when we land (that aint often but ok ;) ) we have plenty fuel left to do it again, and sometimes we are out of fuel when we are in mid-air.
My question... how should I calculate the percentage of fuel I should take with me? It isn't as simple as it seems... because when I take more fuel with me, it will take me longer to climb thus longer to get to our standard alt, 19-20K. And when I climb I'm slower, thus using more fuel for a longer distance... get the problem?
So does anyone have any rule they use when calculating the neccesary fuel for their bomber? Thanks in advance :)

6 sectors, or if it's less than 150 miles round trip 25% is fine. Longer than that, take 50% or you'll be glideing home.
While it's not perfect, as a general rule it works fairly well.

if im going over 2 sections i will take 25%
I almost never take more then 50% of fuel on a bombing mission.
Also make sure all your fuel tanks are empty before ditching. use (shift F) to switch to different fuel tanks.

The cards I have says the B17 have 303 min
on full tanks, at 100% throttle
so if you set the climbspeed to .speed 150
then it would take you 10 min
to cover a sector from top to bottom or
sideways. the rest is easy to calculate.
hope this helps

as ghosth said, if you bring 25% you have enough to go 6 sectors (3 there, 3 back) at 150 MPH speed which is what you should climb at. If you are going 12 sectors total bring 50%, 18 bring 75%, 24 bring 100%.
