I have been trying to texturize a new self-made object in AC3D. It saves ok and gets converted to Object Editor, but OE wont show the textures for some reason.
I also tried editing the AH2 tower object in AC3D... moved some surfaces and textured areas... in attempt to figure out what was different. Then I converted it back to OE and it worked fine :\
(btw. there seemed to be 2 roof surfaces on top of each other at the lower wings. Intentional (LOD?) or a modelling mistake?
Another thing I noticed is that the object gets mirrored in X-axis in the conversion. Is this intentional or a bug?

Are there any special instructions on how to texturize the objects in AC3D to make them appear in OE?
Texture sizes min/max?
Number of colors?
How many texture files can be used for 1 object?
Are there any instructions on LOD:s somewhere? How many LODs are necessary for buildings which may be quite simple and have low poly count? How are the LODs put together for one object... not into same file?... maybe same name with some variation??
Sorry for all these newbie questions....
If there is a FAQ for OE, please point me to right direction... (The help menu command in OE did not work. All I have read is the objedit.txt that came with it.)

Got the same problem.

Did you use 256 color bmp files?
-
No used 32Bit BMP... is that bad?
Tex

I tried first with full colors, but then later also with indexed colors (=256). Both showed ok in ac#d, but neither showed in OE.
Surfaces were doublesided in ac3d.
-
They are now 256 color BMPs and still no work.

Do you get any missing file messages from the converter?

Don't the texture sizes have to be a multiple of 8?
i.e., 64x64, 128x128, 256x256...
-
They don't have to be square, but each side must be a power of 2.
I.E. 32x64 is fine

Ahhh.. gotcha.
Double check your pixel dimensions, guys.

256x256 and 512x512 with 256 colors is what Im running atm... no work...
-
Belive I have found the problem.
in the userlib folder make a texsrc folder
copy any .htx files from userlib to userlib/texsrc folder.

.htx files?
Should such be created in the conversion or when saving from ac3d or when?
I only have .ac .bmp and .shp concerning the objects.
Should there already be some terrain under work in TE, before trying to use OE?
-
I might be dumb but....
htx file?
I just get a shp file generated when I do the import.
Im guessing that the htx file is the texture file but how do I convert my textures into htx??? Shouldnt that be done on convert of the ac file???
Well I know that the OE tries to read the .htx file as if I put my .bmp textures in the directory you said and rename them to .htx the OE crashes.... ;)

same here - no textures - no .htx file....?
do i need to download the ac3d imorter/exporter package?
-
When you imported the shapes it is suppose to convert the bmp to an .htx file (our texture format) and place it int the userlib folder. If it isn't doing that then it is just A different bug. Ill double check tommorow.

Then its a bug.. ;)

Anyone have luck with this?
