Does Hitech plan on making more versions of the TE? I hope so because there is still alot of stuff that needs work in my opinion. I really like it and appreciate the work put into it but I feel like we could do so much more with the AH1 TE.
The Make Map feature needs improvement, it makes all of the tiles squares.

Will it ever be concidered that the parts of an object group such as a town or airfield be made into individual parts like they were in AH1?
And would it be pausible to add the 30mm and 37mm ground guns back to the object list? Its kind of hard to make a custom field without guns.
Also would be nice if I could actually use the cloud editor
Great work so far Hitech and cant wait to see what else you have in store for us:aok :lol

you can do this through the object editor..

Those "little squares" are pixels in the bitmap. There is no smaller portion than that little square in a 256 color bmp. The only solution would be to allow true-color bitmaps which allow for pixel shading.

In a 512 square mile map, using a 1024x1024 bitmap, there are only 4 pixels per square mile available.
The only way to improve the resolution is to increase the size of the bitmap.
What could be done with the old TE that cannot be done with the new TE? The new TE has more features and supports all the old features of the old TE.

I originally made it 1024x1024 but made it 512x512 to save space on picture hangar. I liked how in AH1 it was more curved when doing the create map feature, now its squares of the tiles. I dont know if this has to do with the tiles or how the TE is setup.

did you find them in the TE already or have to go through object editor? even after deleting the shpfilter file i still cant find them.

They need to be created in the Object editor. Below is an example of an airfield I put together testing it out.

There are three shapes that I have found so far that work, gng0, gng1, and gng2.
gng0 is flack gun(puffy ack)... gng1 and gng2 will shoot at you but I don't know what mm's they are....

Once you build your shp file using the Object editor copy the shp file to your texsrc directory of the map you are working on in the TE. The object should be available in the TE to place on your map...

Shorelines were handled differently in AH1... the shoreline image was part of the texture tile, and that image is what Make Map used. Now in AH2 shorelines are handled with an alpha. I guess the TE doesn't preview those alphas.

Soda,
After you built your field were you able to install it using the TE without the underlying terrain poking through in the final map?
-
yeah,
I ran into that to, so I went back to the OE and changed the tile properties...
This seemed to do it:
check
display terrian underneath Tile and is square tile object...
Not sure if those are the correct options to choose but it worked for me... I was planning on going back and trying out the different options to see what they do, but haven't as of yet...

Thanks Soda, that helped a lot. I had it so messed up that for a while it had a blue border around the field after the TE build.
I learned checking "Is Terrain Cell" will cause the OE to silently refuse to build your object, at least if it has airfield parts in it. The only way you know your .shp file isn’t being updated is by the modification date.
Sure wish I’d remembered to go back and re-read Pyro’s original post about the objedit.txt file, it would have saved me some grief.
