Last night I joined in on a mission (great fun!), and my wingmates text was in purple.

Today, I logged on, and flew as an independant flier, but I'm still seeing purple text.

Is there some thing I should cancell?

The purple text is for anyone to use.  Only people in the adjoining area can see it instead of the whole country.  I am still not sure of the distance in flight but it seems at least 1 full sector from you will be able to read and reply purple.

yep any one in your sector can see this purple text. Sence a Sector is 25 game miles then any one out of the 25 mile range wont be able to see the purple text.

No kidding??...Dangit, how you guyz find this stuff out anyway?

...and if you are sitting in a tower and uses #3, then only other people in the tower reads you. Not the planes flying just outside.

To see who sits in the tower with you goto "roster" and click "room".
