Title: AH2 can become as good as WW2OL on ground if...

and AH2 can beat WW2OL hands down.


Im seriously impressed with the ground stuff put in AH2 (kudos HTC!) . Its a heck of a lot better than ww2ol's in its first year.

I dont know if HTC plans to expand the ground war portion of the game, but imo if:

-terrain is 'smoothed' out so its not so triangular (aka hills are triangles really)..but instead have curvature, it would make the ground fighting a lot more realistic looking

- add playable riflemen (200 rnds ammo, rifle, pistol, 4 frag grenades, 2 smoke grenades), playable paratroopers (400 rnds ammo, SMG, 2 grenades, 6 smoke grenades), a few more vehicles (a tank or 2 more and a jeep would be nice), a mortar infantry (pistol + 50 rnds of 82mm heavy mortar), a bazooka infantry (4 rnds bazooka, 1 pistol) and an engineer infantry (pistol, 4 demolition charges)

- add some 'hard' terrain objects to provide cover for the ground units , a bit more 'soft' cover (visual cover, like the treelines now in game).

- remove icons for all ground units (else it will be a slaughter from the air)

- capture rules: to capture any field the town must first be captured (1 map room like object inside the town itself), which will disable air ops in the airfield. Airfield must then be captured by ground (airfield has its own map room).

and voila! AH2 will beat WW2OL hands down in ground and air combat.

When I first came over to AH, I recall HT posting his 'vision' of what he wanted to eventually add to AH and having playable troops was one of the things on top of his list.  I'm hoping that he'll eventually follow through and add them.
