More amazing considering the relative primitivity of the cars.
Did you ever see the highlight of Fangio hitting an oil spill? The car goes completely side ways he barely keeps it under control, slides past the oily spot a bit, blips the engine regains yaw control and moves on non chalantly. He was a truly gifted pilot.
Not that the new crop is bad at all but they have the advantage of state of the art technology and I don't see much being done that Fangio did without it fifty years ago.

this is crazy, got any more?

"Now THATS Racing.

Nascar looks a lot more boring on TV, I'll give you that. When you're in the car rubbing fenders with another guy at 150 MPH, it's not quite so boring.
Rally racing is fun to watch, too.

NASCAR drivers cannot cut the mustard in F1, any F1 driver could win a "Nextel Cup". NASCAR's wishes on making the "playing field equal" is IMO, making it more dangerous.

This is true for sure. Especially on the fast tracks, half the guys aren't even racing so much as running with the pack waiting for the "big one".

I disagree. There is a lot of very specialized knowledge required in that type of racing, and a lot of it can only be acquired through experience, which none of the F1 drivers have. I think a DTM or V-8 Supercars regular would have a better chance in Cup than an F-1 regular.

Agreed...specialised drivers often aren't competitive outside their chosen field.
Rossi seems to be one of those exceptions, I would love to see him in an open wheeler to see how quick he really is

I really enjoy watching Rally. Some very talented drivers, no doubt. But, they are driving very light, short wheelbased cars, often on loose surfaces. Steve Kinser would eat their lunch. NASCAR is heavy, longer wheelbases on pavement with a LOT more carburated horsepower. F1 uses traction control, low COG and computer controled fuel. It's apples and oranges.
What I'd like to see is IROC move to different surfaces and tracks with cars to match. Now that would be interesting.

Steve who ?

BS
You just got to laugh when you take a look at the beer bellied granpas who drive NASCAR. Or how about the Americans who came to take over F1, like Andretti Jr.
EDIT: ROFLMAO rpm, you got me!
