If popularity (usage) related, then better sort them by deaths.

Aaagh, somebody do the math and rank them in most successful in kills vs. deaths, e.g.,

D9 1.510
Typhoon IB 1.460
G-10 1.415
La7 1.247
Niki 1.177
Seafire 1.079
Spit V 1.007
51D 0.931
Spit IX 0.897
38L 0.829

Oh ... I just did.

That method is just as flawed as tracking usage by kills.  It assumes that all types die at the same rate per sortie.

It assumes that a plane can "die" only once per sortie, while killing more than one per sortie. Every death is a sure sortie, every kill is not. Easy enough to understand?

The more things change, the more they stay the same...

Typh most likely being used for anti VH duties more than A2A. 190D probably has more kills than deaths because of bomber interception and its propensity for bald-faced cowardly bugging out in a fight.

I'd say it is pretty common A2A, it is the best bore n zoom aircraft.

I'm so proud of the Spit V.  It's like watching my little baby grow up!

Don't get to euphoric, it'll never overtake the El gay for the top spot.

I started flying Spit a few times lately. DAMN something's messed up with those hispanos. The REASON it has the second highest kills of any aircraft is a single ping by ANY 20mm in ANY location will kill or disable such that the plane crashes/dies quickly thereafter.

It's really BS if ya ask me. But hey, whatcha gonna do? (Except.. maybe... fly only the spit, like people who want easy kills)

Of course that is a big part of why people fly the Spit, but the other part is it is manueverable enough to get the guns on target.

If it was only about the firepower, the A-8 would probably see around as much use as the Typhoon, and more than the Spitfires.

The name of the game is min/max, just like any other MM game.

I don't think anyone could honestly say it isn't easier to get kills in a Spit V than it is to get kills in a similarly early war A/C like the 109E or F, or 202, or .

Easy kills, yes.  Landing much, no.

Of course, with the other pre-'45 aircraft.. you don't get to land either, and it is a wee bit harder to get the kills.

Something interesting, at least to me.

We've got 10 planes in the game with Hizookas.

They are

Spit 9, Spit 5, Seafire, Spit 14, C-hog, C-hurri, Tiffie, Tempest, Mossie, and P-38.

Of those, 3 are perked, which basically kills their usage (except for the C-hog.. and compared to pre-perk usage it is pretty much gone).

Of the 7 that are left... 5 are in the top 10.  Consistantly.

Urchin,

I think The F4U-1C was #11, FWIW.

# stats in the MA are porked with the rampant vulching and #noobs constantly upping the latewar planes on capped fields.

Actually Bf110G-2 seems to hold 10. place (in terms of kills):
Bf 110G-2 has 12735 kills and has been killed 16944 times

looks like the spit V completly took over it's "superior" brother the IX. I think in AHI their rankings were exactly opposite.

Out of all the spits the IX is my favourite because it put the RAF on an level playing field against the 190..  The +16 boost on the Spit V has made the spit IX redundant unfortunately,:( unless you're planning to fly over 20k.

I highly doubt the mossie will ever be in the top ten, no matter how hard i try.:D

One of my whole two sorties this month was in the Mossie.  I took out four of them before they pulled me down.

I almost always fly the Mossie as air-to-air, not air-to-mud.

Nah, even with the phenomenal firepower the Mossie will never crack the top 10.  The typhoon does everything the Mossie does, except better.

What would be nice is a fast, unarmed bomber version.  Or perhaps the Tse-Tse.. it'd be interesting going tank-busting with that sucker.

you're mistaken urchin, the mossie sets on fire much better than the tiffie.:D

Karnak i've been doing the same lately.  I'll usually get some kills, but eventually i'll succumb to overwhelming odds.  I'll die, but i'll take some with me.:)

Another thing I noticed was that the MA has decided that the Ki-84 sucks:

The Ki-84-Ia has 5850 kills and has been killed 4289 times.

This is good news for anybody who likes it, as they can flying without being acused of using an easymode fighter like a Spitfire, P-51D, N1K2-J or La-7.

Well, it comes down to min/max again.  I flew the Ki-84 pretty damn exclusively for a tour or so.  It doesn't suck.  In fact, it is almost as manueverable as a Spit 5 is.

Unfortunately, it lacks Hispanos, which is a big - in the - column, and it is almost as manueverable as the Spit 5, which is another -.

The pluses don't outweigh those two minuses.

sooo... in a timid arena of horde warriors.... the top three planes (k/d)are very fast planes with cannon with good acceleation and climb so that they can run away well after they take their sissy little kick at someone who has nodded off from the lack of action?

wonder what the top planes for kills per hour are?

I find it interesting that the Spit9 has a sub 1.0 K/D and that its got a lower K/D then the SpitV.

Personally I score about 2x higher K/D in Spit9 over Spit5.

Though that can be just a matter of personal taste as I like to use the vertical more then the SpitV allows me.

That would be those same planes doing the endless BnZ runs on runway vulch duty.
EVEN when you are on their butt shooting at them they will ignore the hits and TOTALLY focus on these strafing runs.
Last night i had the misfortune to be chasing first a N1k and then a zeke doing this.
I had upped a spitV  to defend a capped base, 5 kills later i was down to the 4 303s, chased the N1k and the zeke pinging away and they took NO evasive action whatsoever.
Totally fixated on runway strafing with no desire or ability to actually defend themselves or god forbid actually attack a flying target.

Sad.

If a pilots objective is to de-ack and/or pork troops, radar and/or ord then I actually do respect that they ignore fighters.

If he is just vulching the he is a sad sad person.
