he sounds pretty damn good too me.
-
Yeah... but will we get to see his right tit?
-
lol.
He's showing the wanna bes how it's done.
I'm surprized.
-
awesome show
what a halftime show should be about - family entertainment
amazing when you realize the hits he sung are 40 years old and still appreciated by the majority who heard them
-
Sir Paul did great
-
I wish they would go back and make half-time fifteen minutes long.
...and pre-game... ONE HOUR... just one!
-
Good show. Not as good as the Areosmith show from a few years ago which I thought was the best.
but pretty good.
One thing that annoys me about all the halftime shows is the pseudo fans they always have surrounding the stage.
From the looks of it half the "fans" there are too young to even know any of those songs.
And if they are real fans
They also managed to find probably the only black man in the country who is into the Beatles LOL
-
The Areosmith show was great, but I think this was even better. This had better sound and a much better look.
Those fans around the stage are BS......but in this case, Paul kinda had the whole stadium interested.
I was surprized that his vocals where so good. The band and Paul have always been great musicians, but I was impressed by how well Paul's vocals sounded.
I was expecting to hear some bad vocals, but found myself very surprized.......

I was thinking the same thing.
I saw one of his more recent concerts about a year or so ago on TV and his voice wasnt nearly as good.
Im thinking perhaps is was sudio recorded and lip synced.
His voice just sounded..too young.
-
Paul did a great show. I liked the stage they used, too. I don't think he lipsynced. I heard his voice crack a couple times during the show, but not badly.
-
Definitely not lip-synched. It's easy to tell when the singer throws in a little ad-lib between lines. It's nearly impossible to lip-synch something like that perfectly since there's no time to it. It was a live performance and a darn good one at that.
-
Paul impressed me a lot. But, the guitarist impressed me even more. He had a modern sense to him, but kept the vintage "Beatles" feel to his playing.
All in all a great halftime show.

I've seen him live two times, and this Halftime was legit, no Ashley Simpson impersonations. Hey Jude, Live and Let Die, Get Back, and Drive My Car are easy for him to sing. His voice did crack, but, he sounded JUST like he did in 1990 and 1993. He takes care of himself, some artists don't.

Lady McCartney, or should I say I-lean, how you gonna courtsey when you meet the queen?
-
Best part about the show: no dancers.
Paul sounded good, the songs were classics and the fireworks display was a nice addition. Maybe the NFL will figure out these kind of half-time shows are what 99% of their fans would rather see. That... or nothing at all.
-
McCartney doesn't need to lip sync - what's he got to prove anymore?
That was one of the classiest half-time shows in a long while. No dancers, no "routines", no gangsta's or ho's. Made up for the totally lame pre-game "concert." What the hell was with that thing anyway?
Only faux pas I saw in the pre-game was when they had Michael Chiklis intro the Pat's and used the phrase "wicked awesome" - they obviously had to clean it up for TV - the correct jargon is "wicked pissah."
-
It was great. The biggest impression it left on me was thinkin'... if only the Beatles had a decent drummer.

The Beatles didn't need a John Bonham or a Keith Moon to accomplish what no other band will ever get close to. He was perfect for the music they produced.

Oh yeah... It's not as if they needed a better drummer to get even more huge. They just would have sounded better.

Uh...Those "fans" were actually part of the show... It's not like they let whoever wants to go onto the field at halftime to listen to Paul just c'mon down...
Didn't you notice how their waves were all so synchronized? And all of them had a Mini-Mag Lite they held over their heads on the slow songs?
They almost fooled me, to, but when I saw that black Beatles fan I wised right up to their scam.
-
Plus they all seemed to be color coordinated.... outfitted by GAP or something.

I know. Thats why I called them pseudo fans.
They've had them during halftime show for the last several years at least.
LOL Lamers look like the participents in the Democratic national convention

Two posts above to "solidify a fact".

it's funny you guys mention the black guy - we were talking about how he looked so alone and out of place and he was looking around unlike everyone else who was 'rocking out'
i hate those fake crowds.. didnt really flow with the show this time around at all.
i'm glad they had a tamer version but i really cant see paul McCartney as the answer for what happened last year. not enough energy really..
bands like aerosmith and u2 are perfect for that role. not really my kind of music either but they can get a stadium jumping and do it with class.
-
Maybe Roger Waters wil rejoin Pink Floyd and could perform at next year's? It would be the best Show ever.

Now THAT would be a halftime show
they already have the perfect song
"MONEY"
-
WHen he jumped to the piano it seemed to start going and the voice started befor he got sat down..
the stage with the jumbo trons was pretty cool.
-
Man the US declaration of independence is a cool document. I love that part befor the game.

If your talking about the singing of the Star Spangled Banner before the Game Im just happy they didnt butcher the living daylights out of itit the way performers seem to like to do in a pathetic attempt to "Make it their own"
Just sing the damn song. no need for the OaaaAAAAAaaoooos and all that other stupid crap they try to add to it

I agree, the SB is a family event. I still think U2 was the best, but Paul was good, didn't think he had it in him, was a pleasant surprise.
-
I bet AC/DC would still put on a good show. Or maybe see if you could get Daltry and Townsend to get together one more time. I'd suggest the Stones, but its to the point where Mick looks as scary as Keith and seeing them on stage would freak too many people out.

no there was this think befor the show of ball players and coaches past and present reading the declaration of independance. pretty cool.

when i was thinking of bands i'd like to see play halftime, ac/dc was up there. i once saw an nfl hits highlight reel somewhere on the net of the hardest hits with 'thunderstruck' as the background music and it was perfect
i bet gnr would be pretty good too, now that i think of it
of course thanks to janet mcnipples we won't see anything above G rated for a few years. they wouldn't let old metal bands play because im sure the critics would say they promote satanism or some crap.
-
Nuke, you should look for Paul McCartney's "Back in the U.S." DVD. The feel and performances are similar.
I liked the drummer in the halftime show - he was having a blast.
Obviously "Live and let die" had some prerecorded tracks with the synced fireworks, but the vocals seemed live.
I wonder what Vince Lombardi would think of what the Superbowl has become?
-
It's amazing to think that he and Lennon were just 21 year-old kids when they wrote so many great songs. And they were doing it long before the first Super Bowl.
I remember the first Super Bowl and I remember hearing the Beatles for the first time on radio in 1963, but I can't remember what I had for lunch yesterday... :(

He was in mid tour when those were made. You sing every night for a year and guess how your voice will sound.
His voice was rested for the show.
I saw McCartney before I deployed to the Persian Gulf a couple of years ago, best money I ever spent.
I am sure that Paul probably doesn't know a thing about American Football but then again neither did Janet Jackson.

From what I've heard, I think they're going to tour again after they release their new album sometime this year.
Aerosmith was one of the best halftime shows I've ever seen. But, then again, I rarely ever watch the superbowl.
