Title: Thank you
Post by: JB42 on February 07, 2005, 09:42:03 PM
Sorry to get to this so late. I want to thank all the Axis participants for a job well done. The plan was to have a loose umbrella spread out to the south of the suspected targets. All squads did a great job job of keeping themselves fluid enough to respond to the ever changing information that was coming in. A big to the defenders of P14. Another mention to the USMC squad for being able to move along the Southern flank. An all around great job fellas, Thank you.

A mention to the Allied commander. Good job on being patient and waiting until the near end to make you assault on the targets. You made a lot of Zeke pilots wonder if we were ever going to see a bomber. Well done.

Your very welcome. I was proud of my squad for forcing most of the P-40's at the port to use up their ammo. :D In the end, we gave about as good as we got.

We had a blast.  We felt like we were chasing ghosts at first, but once we found some action, it was real hair raising stuff.  Salute to both sides.

I witnessed something quite unique.  We were scrambling North toward A12 late in the game, trying to head off the attackers as they headed Northeast from P14.  I could see dots in the distance, then someone reported a B26.  I saw two dots merge, then one of the dots burst into flame and began falling to the ground in a beautiful flamming decent. Others in the area commented on the cool display, and then someone reported that it was the B26 that he had just dispatched.  It reminded me of many scenes from popular aviation artist's depictions of aerial dogfights durring WWII.  Somehow I don't remember seeing anything like this in the Main Arena.  I tried to play it back on my flight recorder, but there was a problem with the file, and I can only play back the first 10 minutes or so before it crashes.  Wish I could post it.

Thanks, JB42 ... although I'm still not sure what to make of the whole frame. :)
