I can now plug in two monitors with my new video card (X800 pro). I've managed that, and managed to activate it in winXp, but on the 2nd screen, all I see is my wallpaper.
How do I extend my desktop to the 2nd screen?

Drag running apps over to it.
You may have to minimized them to drag. Some apps will open on the second screen if you close them from there after having dragged.
It's very addictive once you get used to running dual. Some apps, like Photoshop, seem ideal for running dual.

Get Ultramon (http://www.realtimesoft.com/ultramon/overview/) if you use more then 1 monitor.
Additional taskbar for each secondary monitor, and each taskbar only shows
tasks from the monitor it is on,
UltraMon adds the ability to use a different wallpaper on each monitor,
or stretch a single picture across the desktop.
I use it and its simply a great tool, read the overview.

GhostFT Thank you!
I managed to get the 2nd screen displaying something... now how the f*** do I get my mouse to move on that screen???
-
Go to the Display control panel and position the monitor with the #2 in it so that it represents the physical location of the monitor, then move the mouse in that direction. Right now, your monitor may be on the right side, for example, but the computer thinks it's on the left side, and you've never tried moving it the opposite direction.

Thank you Chairboy!
Was trying to slide things to the left of the screen (that's where the 2nd monitor is). The 2nd display is set on the right...

Use that control panel and you can make it so the 2nd monitor is virtually where it currently is physically. :D
