Any New Englanders out there...
Would you be interested in finding a place to meet and tell war stories, get to meet the faces to the names in here, and brag about our RedSox and Patriots?
Its a drab time of year, and would be fun to do this.
-
Don't know about meetings ..... i'm awefully lazy...
But if your ever in Northwestern VT, I'll grab drink with you-if ya don't mind a VT freak :D
-
Connecticut???
-
Well im thinking southern NH as a good place, or northern MAss. More centrally located.
-
I work in Gardner, MA (North Central on RT2 and RT140).
JonnyB is in NH, but works in Tewksbury, MA
Where to meet? I like North Central, MA idea because I live in Oxford, MA (South Central, MA on RT395)
-
ManeDew, Burlington works for me. I'm in St. Albans a few times a year, I have numerous Aunts, Uncles and cousins who live there. Cav, where in CT. are you? I live in East Hampton which is east of Middletown.
Filth, I will meet up anywhere in New England to pound down some rum and cokes with ya :aok

Yeah moose. We were going to go to the New England Air Mueseum for "open cockpit day" but for some reason they stopped doing it so we never finalized the plans.
Well, maybe this time someone will finalize some plan and I'll be there. With my schedule these days, I can't even finalize plans for what time I'm going to leave work each day.

Hehe, that's why we lernt to sleep outside. Same thang'
:)

Tell me where to go. Might I suggest the 7-11 in Quonnie, RI... Best damn hotdogs in the world.
-
TWR do you know the specific dates. I'm there! They are keeping airport open?
-
we should do it at an airport so the guys with ppls can fly in
-
This is the original artical, of course no specific date in June as of yet. I will let ya know when I get the word on it. As far as the airport remaining open it will probably be NOTAM'd for a short time to allow the arrival and most likely flyby's of the F4U's. Before and after should be normal ops for the day.

Corsairs Over Connecticut
Warbird Returns To Their Roots For 60th Anniversary Of WWII Victory
To celebrate the 60th Anniversary of the end of WWII, June 2005 will see nine Chance Vought F4U Corsairs return home to Connecticut for the Veterans Salute, a celebration honoring the men and woman who worked on the home front and served in the military during WWII.
Designed and built entirely in Connecticut, powered by a Pratt and Whitney engine and Hamilton Standard Propeller, the Corsair represents the people and manufacturers who created the Constitution State's mighty "Arsenal of Democracy" during WWII. "The Corsair is Connecticut and it's people", stated Jerry O'Neill, Display Coordinator, "and we've put together an amazing program never before attempted outside of Hollywood!"
Visitors will be transported to back to Bridgeport during the height of WWII. Unique "set-pieces" will be arranged throughout the weekend including a recreation of the Chance Vought Corsair Factory, complete with aircraft parts, engines, props, shop equipment, "Rosie the Riveter's" and real Corsairs. A "War Bond Rally" and a factory "Test Flight" are also planned. Other displays include WWII aircraft, military vehicles and historical re-enactors.

Last time I heard a hog fire up I thought my teeth were going to rattle out of my skull. Only thing louder I've ever heard other than that was being in the staging lanes next to an alcohol dragster when they fire that up while I'm right next to it. I love loud toys. :D
This CoC should be awsome. Im deffinatly going to make it to that.

Dude that gave me wood!!! I can't wait! If I miss this event I will go out back and shoot myself in the head. :D
Every time I fly into BDR I go out and drool over the one on the Ped!
Thank god Danbury is close!
Thanks bud
-
Danbury is Teh SUCK!
Too bad I'll be finishing up my comp sci degree there though! lol. :(
Oh yes. Lotsa stuff to do in danbury. Yeser. TK's, Colo. Brewery, ummmm whats the name of that strip joint now? The one down the road from the campus? They change their name once a month there. I dont think they'll let us back in there tho.
-
HAHHA lol it sure is.
Comp Sci. What are you doing that for? Jobs are overseas now being done by slaves. No work in Computers in this country anymore.
-
Thats why I put it on the back burner and made the move to uconn. Well the real reason for going to uconn is because I was up there almost every weekend from thursday night to sunday morning partying err um visiting friends. I dont think there is any other campus in the NE that literally shuts down for 4 days and nights for what has come to be known as "spring bash". Which is basicly thousands of kids drinking and doing various "other" activities in parking lots with bands on stages and kegs every 5 ft, cars flipped over, furniture on fire girls stri... you get the idea... lol... Good times. I am almost done with comp sci, I might as well finish it when I get back. Or not. We'll see.
Alrighty, I'll stop jacking this thread now. sry. stfu Mars!:D
-
Wow that sounds like alot of fun!
-
What do you fly into BDR with?
-
152, V35.
We'll shoot the approaches for practice, havn't done em in a while tho.
We mostly run Poughkeepsi ILS 6, then do the VOR A back into Danbury, once in a while we do Bridgeport or Oxford.
My buddy with the V35 has a brother in BDR so we'll pop into there.
BDR has a great terminal. It's a shame that it is a ghost town. Would be a great place to start an air taxi.
-
No doubt finish it up Morph. Network guys will always have a job here, it's the programming that has gotten very compettive and in jeopardy.
CS is still a good degree to have no matter what you do.
Uconn rocks. My Sophomore year I drove from PSU to Uconn just for Home comming and it was on halloween. potato peeling nutts. I got two speeding tickets gettting there lolh.
Long time ago tho.
-
Sounds fun.
Moose, pick me up at Minuteman or Hanscom and I'll split the cost w/ ya. ;)
-
LOL -- Sounds like UCONN hasn't changed in the past 20 years.
BTW, there are still some CS programming jobs....

could be fun! :) maybe we should do that. (if you can believe i wouldnt get us lost and fly into canada)

"With my schedule these days, I can't even finalize plans for what time I'm going to leave work each day."
That was the case for me two years ago. I could not seriously plan on getting to a "meet" at the NEAM.
But it's a couple of years later, the littlest is older now and my sons & I would love to see the Corsairs. I'll keep a tab on the dates and perhaps I'll finally meet some of you this summer.

Don't worry, got my own PPL... only my Med ran out last year and been too busy to renew it. Flown to Canada once... pretty hard to get lost. :)
Although... if I could get it in time, we could get some formation time in... ;)
