Title: P-38L - Maj George Laven's Itsy Bitsy II
Post by: oboe on February 08, 2005, 10:45:35 AM
This is the toughest skin I've ever done.     Here's what I was aiming at:

And here's how it turned out:

I think it's one ugly '38, and reminds me of an old pair of saddle shoes.   But if it makes it in, I found my main ride.

Wow!  I like it a lot.  Great work Oboe :)

Now can I get you to do a Headhunters bird for me?

OK, it's submitted to HTC and also available at ah-skins.com.

thebest1, I this time I tried a pattern overlay of 'clouds' and then set its opacity low enough for a hint of it to show through, giving light and dark highlights to the base color I used.

Also I experimented with the materials.txt file, but that was more to minimize the problem with the black on the outer nacelle being more reflective than the black on the inner nacelles.

Just lots of playing around with different techniques and stuff.
