ohh..btw i will get 30's to 60s on small maps..
in DA i get 70's
but large maps seem to crap me out
-
.
ha.
-
well sorry to say but your system is poor.....so you are lucky you peak at 70fps really
try 640x480, and all the sliders on max performance, same with ATI control panel, set it all for max performance on the D3D panel
-
First: go and learn about optimizing your bios settings, you may have your AGP set to something wrong like 2x.
Second: go and get the newest video drivers, as this is usually the problem. Make sure there arn't some crazy driver updates for your motherboard or any other hardware you can find. Once you've got the latest drivers from ATI go in and configure them for performance, as they have many options you can control now.
Third: Cut down texture size to 256 and disable the load textures to memory option.
Fourth: Just go search google for benchmarking programs and test everything, floating point, hard drive, memory, video benchmarks, everything.
Fifth: Call Skuzzy, make it his problem.
In all likelyhood getting the latest drivers from ATI will be the thing to help you out.

Your complaing about FPS in the 70's and I imagine in the 50's on a large map.
I average a FPS of 8 in low number areas...

BetaNerd
XP pro svcpk 1
9600 ATI 256mb - Omega Driver
Pent 1.6gig
720 Ram
Dx 9.ob
your main problem is your CPU 1.6 ghz, AH is beating it to death.
a pent 1.6 is very weak for AH2. id suggest upgrading it to what u
can afford, atleast a pent 4 2.8 or higher. video card is on the lower end but ok.

yup, a 1.6 p4 is like a 1ghz AMD/P3 so a VERY VERY poor cpu

Buy a cheap handheld, you'll probably get better frame rates :p

Looks like Hitec wants to weed out all the middle income people that want to play and cant afford the $ to buy a hi end system.
O-Well i guess its his toy.

Humm. my computer has all old stuff (6 months or more means caveman technoligy these days) got my stuff over a year ago
some hardware older then that:
p4 2.6 800fsb
Intel MB 800fsb
pc4000 512 ddr duel channel
128mb nvidia gf fx 5200, w/ nv updated drivers agp 8x
little 40 gig hd
SB audigy zs
I set my res to 800x600 or 1024x768 depending on mood :)
dx 9 of course
windows Me too... hehe
blah blah..... only few hundred bucks to build.
My frame rate is usually around 80 to 120 + at 800x600
70 to 100 at 1024x768
with 19in mont at optimal or 100mhz . BUT i have several adjustments provided by nvidia so i adjust my vid card under performance settings
I shut off all but 2 things in start up, nothing running on taskbar. plus i try not to have a ton of other programs on my pc that i use to game. put those on the wifes pc :P . I preload tex in ah ,hardware vortex thingie on, 512 setting for mem, unlimited frame rate checked, sliders aprox 1/2 in video settings , fly in full or med view . ground view does knock my fr down quite a bit down to 45 to 60.
Its basicly not how "new" or how much money you got to spend, if your parts dont match up. Buying new high dollar vid card or ton of ram if its slow ram is not gunna help ,(can be really disapointing after spending ton of cash for "New just out" products and see your computer get the same or worst performance.) My inexpensive built pc does better then any so called new bad arse pc's costing 1500.00+ more then mine . dell gateway. pssft bah!!!! i say..
look for sales ,go get a minium of ( what ever your preference is for cpu) i 've had both amd and intel, i like intel, p4 2.6 800fsb ,a intel mb w/duel chnl pc4000 capabilty <-- probley cost now 150 to 200 , i paid 225 for cpu and MB .get pc4000 512 ddr duelchnl ram <---- cost 60.00 or so now . i paid 75 w/ rebate.. ati vid cards are ok , i like nvidia i paid 45.00 for mine, and sb augidy 2z i paid 75 w/rebate , some other parts i already had, hard drive ect , you wont need all new stuff, reuse tower, modem, cd rom that stuff no need to replace. so there my story. the end :)

LMAO Rino!! forgot that in my last post :p

BlueJ..try to read more carefully next time..
I said 30-60s on small MAPS..
Teens to singles on big maps attkn things
Ok..So . am using the latest Omega Drivers...small improvemnet..
and ..yes..everything is slide to performance
im running text at 256
i have MIN . amount of procs running..my computer is fairly bare
I have heard and read people running a p41.6 gig with bettr frame rates..
I am just trying not to hav eto buy a new mobo and procc...
and thanks most of you for repsonses

You take an 8 iron, and hit the monitor a dozen times, then work the CPU. Should do the trick.
-
to be fair, thats the best you are going to get out of such a old rig. tweaks dont magic up the fps
-
What motherboard are you using...Please give exact model number and make..

Weren't you asking about sytems probs before? I think you got many good tips. I even suggested you e-mail skuzzy your dxdiag. Did you do this? He can diagnose probs with that file. There are already many "sticky" posts by skuzzy on this board. Looks to me like he's got all the bases covered in fine turning your system for this game. If you have tried all those it sounds like its time for a new system.

Get SiSoft Sandra 2005, the free version.
It lets you run a performance bench where it will point out all possible misconfigurations and the weakest parts for upgrades.
What network connection do you use?
I have no idea why big maps give you so much trouble, i am sure skuzzy would be happy to figure that out.
Maybe skuzzy can give us small sub maps on big maps, usually the fighting is around a small area anyway?

dude...your system runs AHII as fast as it can...no more tweaks will help it. get over it
-
Hell, my old p3 1 ghz with 512 meg ram, geforce 2 gts 32 meg video card runs AH2 with 20-50 fps at 1024x768 res. Something on your computer is not working right like drivers, directx, etc...

what 9600 version Ati card you got?
what wattage rating is your power supply?

just got new power supply 350wat
my vid card is 9600 256mb xtasy ATI...is taht enuff detail?
Notice 224 : SMBIOS/DMI information may be inaccurate.

reason I asked was I went to Ati website and it did not have any 9600 cards with 256 mb listed. was checking to see if your vidcard had one of those power cords on it where you supplyed power to the AGP card itself.......hence also reason I asked about power supply size.
-
ya TC its a "licensed" vid card..
Xtasy 9600 256mb agp
Radeaon 9600 @325mhz
256mb DDR @400mhz/8x
