So here is a little game to see if you have the reaction time to hit a major league fastball.
http://www.exploratorium.edu/baseball/reactiontime.html
I definitely don't; the best I could do was a string between .25 and .3, with one .2407 (base hit!) and one .1070 (home run!) which was an obvious lucky freak.
That's par I think for a 50 year old guy with neurological impairment, I think.

I'm 47 and I got 8 hits in a row with 2 homers... now quit posting this addictive stuff... bad for me.

I'll try the game in a few days when I get through with my steroid cycle.

Remind me to not get in a gun duel with you.

The title of your thread is very misleading.

That's OK, let it drift, if you want to talk ball. It's cool with me.
I'm a Pirates fan. Sigh. There was a time, there was a time. Jim Bibby. Doc Ellis. Parker, Clemente, Stargell, Sanguillen, Madlock. Bonds. Candelaria. Blyleven. I grew up going to 10-20 games a year starting in about '63. I went to almost every home game in '78 and '79. My picture is in the Pirates' 100th anniversary yearbook. People don't remember that in '78, the Pirates came from last place at the All Star break to miss the division title by one game. '79 was no fluke, that team was damn good.
Now, we're a small market team with no prospects; a good year will be over .500. But each year, everyone starts tied for first... and tied for last. This just might be our year. Or not.

Jon Van Benschoten is one of my best friends, we grew up playing golf, baseball and going to school together. Damn if he isn't out for the year because he just had shoulder surgery. I'm pissed they made him a pitcher, he's one of the best natural hitters I've ever seen. Let the kid hit!
Edit: Hey, I know how you feel. I'm a Reds fan, no hope anytime soon for us.

LOL Thats cool.
Consistent .1860 lefty and .1510 righty.
-
Consistant .060 at age 44.

12 for 15 with 9 homers. LOL Funny thing is when I played ball in School , I was at BEST a .200 hitter. And , I never hit a homer.:lol
-
I'm better at this game than I am in real life, by far! Here I hit 15/15 with 9 homers. Real life I barely managed a .350 average and rarely ever hit a homer.
I might, just might, manage to get tickets for the Nationals (I think?) D.C. team opener this year. :p

I hit like a pitcher and threw like a 1st baseman in school. I lettered in 3 sports, none of them were baseball.
Funny thing is, I really like watching basball now. I love the new feeling Spring training brings, and the constant interplay of stats and what-ifs. Great game.

Who cares! Professional baseball players are over paid and under worked and ***** when you want them to actually do something like get tested for drugs.
The last baseball strike put a bad taste in my mouth when a buddy of mine (MLB pitcher at the time) was complaining about having to only make $750,000 a year (1994). This was when everyone he was hanging around with while on strike was doing good to get by with our little tiny allotments from student loans and football scholarships.

ya, but worse. its only fair that they want a portion of the gigantic peice of pork that the owners are bringing in. heres an idea...how about lowering ticket prices and all other overpriced sports items and give em all a paycut.
