Thought they were just honoring the pilots, not the nation.  Did I miss that?

I notice that it was pointed out the our own coountry refused to honor these guys.

Hmmm...I think your reading comprehension left your brain the same way your IQ did.  France honored the pilots (not the country) that flew these missions because the home country of the pilots did not and in most cases disavowed them.  It was a long time coming but at least France did the right thing by honoring them.

On a side note...at the local CAF museum near my house, they have a restored French A-26 Invader that was used in the Indochina War.  I was surprised that it's quite small, at least in my mind for an attack bomber.

You're getting as bad as I am about feeding the trolls. I figure we should really ignore them. They just don't really matter. But sometimes you just can't help it.

Yeah, I know you're right but sometimes when you see such glaring stupidity and ignorance, you just gotta beat them over the head.

For Pope, the now 76-year-old pilot whose memory of Dien Bien Phu is seared by gruesome images of wounded French troops, the motivation for joining France's fight is easily explained. "I'm a communist fighter. I was born and raised to be against the communists," he says.

We lost?  the place was in pretty good shape when we left.   90% of the hamlets and villages were safe and secure.   We never lost a battle and killed the enemy like 10 to one.
