When you say your system is "unplayable" are you just talking framerates? Or can you truly not log in or maintain a connection?
-
For that system use the following base in-game settings:
Resolution: 1024x768
Maximum texture size:256
Preload to system memory checked
No other preloads checked
Hardware Vertex Processing checked
In game, uncheck mipmapping and transitions
In the ATI control panel, move the slider in the 3D panel to the left of center (towards Performance).
Your CPU is the main bottleneck in this system.
What operating system is this?
Update DirectX to 9.0c
How many processes show in the task manager (for XP/2000, it should be around 19 to 21 for a stock system)?
How does the in-game Variance look (Net Status)? Is it flat? Does it bounce at regular intervals?

I'm glad its working better for you. Just as a general rule though, if you are hitting 60C you are hitting max temps. If I get mine much over 50C I start getting worried, and if it hits 55C I shut down. I dont have that problem much anymore, but every now and then on a warm day when the sun is heating up the room faster than the A/C can cool it, I hit 52C or 53C. If you are going to leave it OC'd and are running over 50C alot, I'd pop the side of the case off and set a desk fan blowing in there to cool it down some until you can get a better Heatsink. Just a suggestion.
