Title: This Is Getting Ridiculous
Post by: Canaris on February 19, 2005, 10:26:34 PM
I go over to A12 controlled by bish at the time, figuring hey they're going to be low figuring they arent attacking anything.  So I go over there in a 262 and my squadmates and those on the same channel saying that they are a 16k.  So I get there and I am looking up to them so I climb up to them luckily I have enough speed to still out run them.  I am talking to myself and those on my channel."

Why do you need to go up to 15k+ just to sit over it?"  Why are people these days doing things like going ridiculously high?  Why cant people just enjoy low alt fights?

16k..in planes that were designed to fly at 25k. that is rediculous.
Over bases that are often 4k. that is crazy talk.

Why cant you enjoy a medium alt fight?
FYI high alt would be over 20k alt afaik

I have good fights at 20K problem most guys dive away to friendly lines.

truely fighting at 20K is fun.

maybe it takes a bit skill to hold that altitude.

Look at these pictures of the insane alt over their own base.

I climbed up to them anyways if you read above because those on my squad channel told me they were at 16k and I was currently at 12k, so I climbed up to them.  It would be one thing if were planes that dont turn so well up there such as 190s or 109s, but there is no need to bring la7s and la5s up there.

Would it be correct that the only reason you wanted them to be furballing on the deck is so you could cherry pick them in your 262 with the safety of alt and speed?

Edit: though i understand how you feel when all you ever see is high cons.  I don't usually climb over 10k myself unless hunting buffs.

i dont mind hi alt fights, what i do mind is...lvl at 10k, go to nme base, see high nme con, grab up to nme con at 15k+ over own base.  get in icon range oh oh  a p51, he then dives to deck through a little furball otd 2k from his base.  yea...that is well...ghay.

Its prettier up high! Chances are you find better fights against guys with alt. They are flying to stay alive, so when you kill them it means more. Guys on the deck are a dime a dozen.

??WTF??

Why are you whining??  You could still see the ground in those pics dangit!!  Man, you dont know the first damn thing about whining do you?  Step aside.   Amateur.

Check this out.

Man I had to spend darn near 300 perkies to get my jet last night, and here I am cruising over to A12.  I get to the base and I grabbed up to 15k because I just KNEW those cheatin bastiges were just waitin to HO me in their Lgay7's and 190's.  Sure enough, I get to the base and there's this one guy, he's like 2k above me?  And of course he's in a 190 and I'm thinkin how no matter HOW high I go in this game theres always some dweeb up there higher when I get to the fight.  So he makes a pass at me and I avoid it, then start after him, and what does he do he RUNS from me.  And then I saw another one at the same alt as me, and I had to turn towards him because his back was turned to me and he could like pad my score and then this stupid 190 turned BACK TOWARD ME, and I had to break off my picking to keep from the total embarassment of having a 190 pick my jet, and then he RUNS AGAIN.  And I'm like pulling my hair out and screaming at this dweeb who wont fight me and then the other one I was gonna pick comes along and shoots me down while I'm typing!  Like thats fair???

So what is the correct Alt. to fly over your own base ? Should I be 10k or 5k Below you ? So please tell your Buddys to please come over to my base low. Also please tell your Buff not to climb to 25k when they pork our base.  Thanks this will help out alot:aok

Wow, 15k is high?

If you want a low fight, defend your own base at low alt. Or, here's another fool proof method: If you want a low alt fight, stay at a low alt. Can't have a 15k fight if you're flying at 5k :)

Starts like this... two planes at 4 k...  I see you, you look higher then me,  you see me I look higher then you.  Then I climb a little higher to match your alt,  then you see me little higher, so you climb higher to match my alt.   so on and so on..    Geee, we know what happens from there,  both end up higher then we started.

This has a domino effect, goes something like this.  :p     for this example , we'll use the name, Ross and Ross is a rook  ..  Bob and Bob is a bishop.   Ross is asked by a fellow rook "hey how high are the bish over there  Ross says, oh they are not that high about 4k ,  Bob is asked by a fellow Bish , hey how high are the Rooks , Bob says, oh about 5k , because of  the scenario discribed above.  Everyone ends up going a little higher and higher etc...  Then  Ross and Bob say the same thing at the same time to each others country " those freaking "Bish" "Rook" are alt monkeys better get high.  then boom your at 15k +-   lmao!!!   Oh and not to leave out anyone ,  the knights are saying the same exact thing too!!!   :p

Its funny as hell to see all countries,  say the same stuff,  about the other countries .   When All the countries do the same things.
No Countries are exempt from nutton,   there Ho'ers, alt monkeys, B&Zers , Runners,  La7 drivers, good guys, bad guys, whiners, criers, kings and queens too many to mention in all the countries  Funny stuff!!!!   :aok

Hey its all good,  I've went afk to answer the phone and by the time i got back i was 35k in a spit.  I could just imagine the talk by the rook  base i was over,  bet i started a alt increase any didnt even mean too.   Its lonley at 35 k     :rofl       S!

What Canaris fails to point out in his whine...err I mean post is that the reason why Bishops were 15k+ over their own base is the majority of attackers were coming in at 20k or higher.

Nice try though Canaris, keep on whinin' :c)

alright, the one thing i would like to get out of this...
why do folk grab to 15k+ just to dive to deck once engaged?  there seems to be defenders of this in this thread, so im guessing some do this.  what is the point really?

15k ain't high, on saturday against hte rooks around A205/A199 15k was deck alt, rarely to find any rook that low even over their own fields.

Usually they went up to 24+k, was quite funny almost all knights just flew in at low alt without being disturbed by the set up hi alt defense.

Here is something to naw on that I find comical and has been whined, posted about, teeth gnashed, text fights over, etc to near no end.
OK, so you wash, polish up and fuel your favorite ride and head out to find a "fight".
Base X and Y seems to be having a  go by the looks of the dar bars. You level out a 5K mean and lean with all the "excess" weight trimmed. (Well maybe you are 12 or so OZs over prime , but that aint going nowhere for nobody :D )
So , here you are at 5K , 10 miles out from your base X, when 10K above you , you see . Your set and ready with hands on the throttle and stick.......but wait...the dweeb aint coming down to fight, but instead continues on. Sheeeeesh what a timid dweeb! Not but one thing for a macho ace , such as yourself to do. Get on 200 as fast as you can and start the " Where you going you #$##@ CS " . Immediately follow this with a tirade on 200 including insults and be sure to include at least one mention of the pilot of family`s tree.
Log off, come to the BBS and post a whine about the incident, getting as close to the edge of posting rules as possible.
Here`s a hint brain surgeon. In most cases the pilot of was not out for a Sunday afternoon cruise, nor to make all your Pappy Boyington fantasies come true. He was more than likely loaded with various heavy explosive devices intending to do a little landscaping at the base you had just left from.

that is not bad jackal, i would expect a ord laden plane to go to target, i know i do.  but, i dont like the 10k+ con directly over own base to dive into a furball on the deck that is 2k from his base.  you dont need that kinda alt to BnZ that low alt furball.  if you gonna take time to get up there, at least fight the guys coming in co alt with ya.

ahh  to each their own i guess.

Exactly!!! High-Alt fights are some of the best. Very little margin for error up high. Takes some skill to do well up high where planes perform poorly, down low all planes manuever well, it's not nearly as hard.

so why does every con i encounter at "high alt" - i *do* wander up to 15-20k - end up simply running for the deck/help/ack?

i find the guys at "alt" to be no more skilled than those found lower - it's just the higher guys are the ones who are usually unsure of their abilities (or sure in that they suck) and only use that alt as an escape hatch.

There is no implied skill with altitude. Just alitude, which is self justifying in air combat.

Wah...fly my way... wah wah wah

I usually fly bombers...usually its pretty easy to get bombers over a target, say 15k-19k and very seldom (until last night) would anyone even try to stop you.  Finally, I had some good opposition and even had a few countrymen fly cover for me to get in and out.

Dear God!  Come to think of it, it lead to some good teamwork, communication, people called other's sixes and a good time was had by all

Canaris, would you like to know why people orbit their own bases at 15k?
It's because the incoming hoard is at 14k.

*this* is what I dont get...

instead of orbiting at 15k over own base, only to dive down into the swirling mess, chasing a bogey which *will* be able to drop eggs or make a high speed vulch pass, why don't these orbiters keep going at 15k and greet the inbound lemmings midway, forcing them to a) dive out and in all likelyhood dump ord or b) forcing them to dive out back towards help?  doing this buys the base under attack some time to get re-organized, up and start pushing back.

High alt cons are better what a joke.

Every time I go to fight these so called better high alt cons, they dive to the deck as soon as they realize the fked up the merge.

What a joke.  Time after time I have found much better more engaging fights on the deck then I have ever found at alt.

The only reason most guys fly at alt is because they feell safe up there and need the alt advantage.  As soon as they lost the advantage they dive for the deck.  The "I gotta survive guys are the most boring to fight."

Nothing for Nothing I hate the alt mokey's as much as anyone but honestlt, upping a 262 and crying about the alt of the other cons.  Thats too funny.  I could see your point if you were in a zeke or a spit but a 262 your just as bad as the alt monkeys.

The reason Shane, is they are afraid they will get strung out and actually have to fight  1 on 1 or 2 on 2, they hover around their field at 15k in numbers ( read *HORDE* ) so they can feel safe when 10 dive in on that lone hvy P51runstang ;)

Plane selection plays a huge role when it comes to finding a good fight at altitude. If you take a SpitIX to 20k+ not many are going to want to get involved with you at more than arms length, same goes for planes like the Niki. Take a plane that is middle of the road, like a Yak, F6F, F4U, P47 or some such plane. Many more people will be willing to get in tight with you for a good fight.

When I go to alt I take a D9 or Hog, sometimes a 47.

Why would anyone take a spit to high alt?  Nothing worse than 20k spit drivers lolh
