I'm in a bragging mood and I've just made an awesome beef stew.
I used a pressure cooker and it took about 1 hour to make total.
2 lbs beef chuck, cut into 2 inch cubes
5 whole, small potaoes
5 carrots, 1" slices
4 onions, chopped
2 cloves minced garlic
1 bay leaf
Salt, Pepper
3/4 cup white whine
3/4 cup beef broth
3 teaspoons un-sweatened chocolate, grated
Man, this is some yummy stew. The pressure cooker makes the beef, potatoes just fall apart tender.

Sounds great Nuke.
Just out of curiosity....why the chocolate? sounds rather out of place with the other ingredients.
-
Bluedog, it's not my recipe.....it's in a book that came with my pressure cooker. I bought the thing about 12 years ago to grow mushrooms :lol
The chocolate adds a little "bite" that you can't recognise as chocolate.
Cooking with a pressure cooker is pretty cool....... can make many things very fast and clean.

I'll have to try that sometime, sounds interesting.
Yep. pressure cookers are the chiznit , I use one all the time.

Last time I saw someone cook with a pressure cooker (and this is the reason that I never do) a whole potatoe shot out of the little hole on top and blew a hole in the ceiling about 3 inches across. Too much pressure.

Sounds good but I dunno about the chocolate - seems unnatural :)
We use a little rue down here, also a little parsley, and maybe some celery. But It sounds good.
Also a tip - if you want to freeze any of it, use new potatoes. Others will get gritty.

chocolate is often added when cooking venison ... don't ask me why :)
Especially for wild boar.
-
Gah, I've been meaning to try venison for the longest time.

screw the meat....i want some of your magic fungi :D
you were talking about the magic variety....yeah?
*slinks away quietly*

Chocolate breaks down the meat and tenderizes it, you won't even taste it. You could let the meat sit in milk overnight also especially wild game.

Thanks Storch.
Just goes to show you learn something new every day :)
