Title: I need help with skins

ok guys, how u doing?

ok, first off, ive never made a skin before, but really want to.
i made a 38g skin the other day, but it was only little bmp's that i added on to the original, it didnt work anyways :(

so basically, i'd like help on the following:

. what the best graphics program to use is

. how to get the thing working

and, oh yeah, any cool sites with good pics, so i can start copying them :)

To start -
Paint Shop Pro or Photoshop.

All skins are saved as 256 color, 1024x1024 windows bitmaps.

Do your editing at full 16 million colors then reduce to 256.

Use LOTS of layers.
Basic ones are -
Black panel lines
White panel lines
Black rivets
White rivets
Screw/bolts

etc etc
