How about some audio messages for kills, like "SPLASH ONE!" or something like that?
-
Or you can just say it onto the local range.
-
A standard audio message like "splash one" might get old after awhile.
-
The close combat series (infantry sqaud level) had multiple audio clips plaid to announce success for taking out an enemy. They even did them in multiple languages - English, Russian, German, even American :) .
It actually added a cool flavor to the game.
-
Hmmmm.....500 people up in the arena. At what rate per minute are planes getting shot down on average?
Splash one
Splash one
Splash one
Splash one
Splash one
ad infinitum........
Don't think so.
Not to mention that some jawjackers want to tie up vox now with inane drivel.
-
agreed - not over radio. just in your own headset. it would be nice to have an audio cue as well as the system message.
-
OBVIOUSLY, the idea is to generate a sound only for the player that got the kill.
-
That's one hell of a good idea Mando! It shouldn't be hard to add a 'I got him!' to the kill messages I suppose!
I really like the idea

I wonder if we can convince Hitech to make it say "A kill has been recorded" ???

How about
Splash One
Splash Two
Splash Three etc?
And of course only in your own headset. And a feature you can turn on or off.
Another idea could be special colored text for Kills and Assists.
-
"I'M ON FIRE I'M ON FIRE! BAILING OUT!"
I like the check-six sound from Mitsu's soundpack, something like: 'Watch it! Bandit on your six!'
-
Mommy......MoOOMMmmyyy....
-
Personally I'd like to hear over the radio the screams of the crewman that dont bail out and stuck in their planes on the way down "oh my god oh my god I dont wanna dieeeee"
lmao
-
what? the sound of you slapping yourself on the back (or some other place) isn't enough?

Yeah, that's not funny....
-
I like this...........basically to remove the system text messages where possible and replace it with audio.
Stuff like
You have landed, ditched, bailed, been captured etc could be fully audio.
Stuff like Assist and Kill awards would have to have audio and text output unless they were limited to ac type and not pilot name.
So basic files could be .wav s to say "you shot down " . "You were shot down by " . "You got an assist on " followed by another .wav file specific to plane type etc. (eg "an La7" latter modified to .........answers on a post card please)
The text line would then only award kills to say "you have been awarded a kill on "
Some fun could be had modifying the .wavs (held on the FE) to players personnel preferences.

I have audio I NEED to hear such as "Watch the tiffie diving on you" I don't need mundane audio just adding noise and possibly interfering. I have the text buffer to tell me less crictial information.

Hmm, Im not so sure if someone else should say that.
When you land, instead someone says 'you've landed' it should say something like 'Touchdown!' screaming by the pilot.
Or if you get killed 'Got ya!'

Honestly it could be simple to add something to the effect of when you popcorn an NMY plane you hear the explosion right ?
Well why couldnt you replace the explosion sound with a wav file saying something to the effect " Got Him " or " He's History " but it would be named explosion # whatever it is .
Or is the same explosion that you hear when you popcorn an NMY the same explosion you hear when something else explodes as in structures or bombs hitting ?

Personally,
If audible kill messages were enabled, I would ask for a way to turn them off. How does an audible message help? I have a similar position on night time (which I hate night, btw). I like to believe I am a WW2 fighter pilot while flying in AH2. Recorded voice kill messages and doing stupid things, like flying when you can't see, don't add to the experience. Hey, it's my $14.99.
Also, Betty's voice, while a pleasant tone, is a rude awakeing and not really desired. If I can't figure out a base is under attack, then an announcement to that effect doesn't really help (me). Having some voice telling me I just shot down a plane does nothing but add to the "Gamey" factor IMO.
