Title: An idea for all Squad COs
Post by: spothq on March 03, 2005, 05:45:15 PM: I've been working on Hells Angels site and decided to test something.

After noticing Hells Angels didn't have much of a web site, and that most squad sites tend to go stale over time I found a content management system that I run on my servers at mbshost. I have been ticking around with it and find it very easy to use (All click gui), so I installed it on Hells Angels new site, and also my Spothq site.

What I wanted to talk to the COs about was the possibility of making a squad news network that combines all content into one location from all ofthe squad pages.

The example content system is located here: http://www.hellsangels.ws/portal

The network news cms is here:
http://www.spothq.com/portal

So here's the idea, have the squads install the same or similiar content system and then syndicate all output from the content systems into Spothq (One place where we can see what all squads are doing).

The content management system can be used by anyone and I can even help the COs get their sites prep'd for it, running etc with basic site layout.

I'm looking for replies from the COs of each squad.

What I am hoping is that this bolsters the offline activity of the members by giving them things to read and do and participate in.

The cms system has file managers, forums you name it, so hosting images is really not an issue for any of your squadies as they can have access to the internal file manager of the squad cms system.

I know some of this will go over the head of some but really once you see the system in action (From the admin point of view - which I can facilitate a demo by request) you'll be shocked how much and how easily you can do it.

You can contact me through this board and I can direct you to the services I use and also walk you through (After signup), getting the basic install of the CMS up. After that its purely what you want (It can be a very simple site or very powerful).

What do you think about the news colation into one place? I actually like that idea enough to back all of this.

Post by: Reschke on March 05, 2005, 12:52:10 AM: Its a simple tool that could probably work for the sites. I would suggest that you contact some of the more established squadrons and get their ideas on it as well. I don't think it would hurt the community.
