Gents.
Here's a simple idea, ever been on a Confrence call? If so, you know when someone dials in and joins the confrence you get a "Du-Dweep" sound. It lets you know someone joined, so the boss can say "Your Late!" But I digress
How about, when squad member signs on, and joins squad channel, we get a simular "Du-Dweep" sound. Would help to know when squadies sign on / off, and promote general squad comroditity.
And for those that hate the idea, make it a squelchable event, just like the beep after VOX transmit event.

nothing negative about this suggestion imo.
-
That would be nice. It also will let you know when anyone joins your channel. Just so you can take a moment and see who it is and if they should be there or not.
-
This is a feature on teamSpeak, pretty good... also lets you know when a squaddie discoes.
-
That’s a good idea...i would also like a buddy list of some sort. Maybe even a buddy list similar to AIM. EQ has a nice one. I mean its nothing you can’t already see on the roster anyway but a buddy list would make it easier to find your friends and filter out the people you dont know, or dont want to know =)

Only problem is the MAWs would hear, "Du-Dweep, Du-Dweep, Du-Dweep, Du-Dweep, Du-Dweep!" all night long. ;)
PS... Don't have a problem with it, as long as it's squelchable.

Thats fine.. they just need to replace the "du-dweep" with "DWEEEB" every time one logs on and all is good.

maybe instead of a beep a scccchrrrrrrrrrrk radio crackle
-
Maybe help to keep me from talking to myself when the squadies have all logged :lol

HiTech, is the beep for vox a .wav file somewhere in an AH2 folder? I personally hate the beeps, but a short burst of radio static might be an interesting alternate. I don't use the beeps, as I hate beeping sounds, but they're pretty useful in telling when a squaddie loses voxs- ie, i hear a beep, look at the xmit tag in
the upper righthand corner, etc etc. Anyhow, just a thought.
cheers,

HiTech: In the situations and enviroments that we fighter pilots are placed in everyday, there is absolutely no time to stop and have a friendly chat. Look what happend in this case of my good friend... Sissyman, "Hey fella's how's it goi.... OMG THERES A DWEEB NIKI ON MY 6!!!!" See what I mean? It just wouldn't work out. Having a beep is much more convient for us every-second-counts fighter jocks. I, being a spit V pilot, can not account for others stupidity when killed because of relaying important information.
Listen, there just ain't e'nuff time. I'm Paul and I am supporting this idea!

just thought of a snafu in the idea...
what happens in the SEA when 15+ people all log in about the same time? beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep
sound lock up, screen freeze.
