Title: Counterstrike Source
Post by: FOGOLD on March 04, 2005, 04:13:42 AM
Just logged on to find massive update promising 3 hour download on my ISDN line. This is rediclous!

Anybody know if there is another way of updating this game or I'm afraid it's coming off my PC:mad:

Can't get any sense out of the Steam website.

lucky bastardo, i'm only on 56k! lol
i doubt there is anothere way then dl over steam.
a small tip, if you have more then 1 game installed over steam
be sure to set the automatic update download for all games to
NO. And only the one you wanna update to YES, this way its
faster then to update all games at the same time.

Just consider broadband expenses coming along with the new games.

The CS series was ruined a while ago, when they newbified it with 1.3.  Source seems even worse.  6 out of 7 deaths last time I played were due to headshots from people spraying randomly... gimme a break.

I only have dialup at home(broadband not available) also so anytime I need to update I have to bring my PC to work(DS3).

Steam blows and Valve should be shot for making everyone use it.

So far I've not heard of ANY way other than steam to get updates.

Steam is Valve's way of getting updates out fast and behind your back.

That last patch - total crap. Added lag, has caused the server I play on to crash three times in four days while I'm on it. And the head shots. Jesus... Jesus Christ! I don't think you even have to aim at the person to get them anymore. I've seen more head shots with people spraying clear sky than with sniper rifles.

Steam just makes it easier for Valve to push crap on the community for us to test. And they still haven't fixed that spawn bug on de_dust(or dust2, whichever).

Counterstrike was ruined forever the day it went retail.  That's when all the "1337 h4xz0r n00bs" started showing up.  Looks like it'll only get worse from here.

Bah, CS had a bunch of 14-yr white suburbian intardnet tough guys from its inception.  Nothing new.

What pissed me off is when the gameplay changed, making it newb-friendly in 1.3.  It used to be it took skill to get headshots, aiming mattered and listening was essential.  Not anymore, not with source.  Individual skill matters less, it's more team-based now.  I, for one, enjoyed being the lone badass who could win the map after the rest of my team is dead.  Oh well. Memories, now.

CS:S was good for about the first month, then hax came out and it got ruined. I quit playing because it got so blatant on so many servers. If there is not a decent admin on the server then its not even worth the time. WTG HTC on keeping this game from being like that

I swear this game is still in beta. Every new map they put out has exploits. It's almost not even worth playing. Then the headshots across the map with any weapon BS. VAC needs to be released ASAP, so download it with ISDN , your'e not missing much but a cheatfest till that hits the scene.

If you go online, try the insurgent camp map. It's my all time favourite.

If you find a small private server, chances are you won't run into hackers.
