Post by: NUKE on March 05, 2005, 12:11:27 AM
I quit my job in the ATM business wednesday. I'm going to start a new company and work for myself instead.

Good for you! That's very unsanitary, and I've never really understood the attraction. Good luck!

I know a guy who quit his ATM job recently. Or more like.... He got fired.

Accidently slipped someone an extra twenty... and plus he started to develop back problems.

By "quit" do you mean "laidoff"?

"Wells Fargo Web-enables 6,200 ATMs
The Windows-based infrastructure enables remote upgrades

News Story by Lucas Mearian

MARCH 03, 2005 (COMPUTERWORLD) - Wells Fargo & Co. announced this week that it has completed a five-year project to Web-enable its 6,200 ATMs in 23 states. The Windows-based infrastructure is designed to allow Wells Fargo to update and add services such as new languages and envelope-free deposits to its entire network remotely.

The San Francisco-based bank said it also installed more than 3,000 online stations in nearly all of its 6,046 branch locations. The WebATM machines and online stations are part of the company's strategy to integrate all channels -- stores, phone, ATM and Internet."

Windows-based infrastructure on ATMs?   Tell me that ain't so!

Haven't we learned over the past few years there is no less secure OS than Windows?

I mean quit, as in waking up in the morning and deciding I wasn't going into work. In fact, I hold so much knowledge in the ATMs the company runs, they have been calling me several times a day since I left. They let me keep the company cell phone, paid by the company just so they can call me. But I made up my mind to start my own company.

And it's true, Windows XP is running a lot of ATMs nowadays :)

If the first part of your statement is true and you keep taking the calls and are not getting paid for them then you are the stupidest person on the planet.

And to further the windows-based ATM paranoia:
