Are we ever going to see the grand slam bomb straped to a lanc in AH? Maybe as a perk item or somthing along those lines? I think it would encourge more pilots to fly bomber to rack up the perk points needed for such a bomb. Say somewhere around 400-500 perks? Discuss.

Why? We don't have anything to really hit with it. Sure, you could sink a CV with one bomb, but it doesn't make sense. We'd be far better off with 2K bombs for those planes that could carry them, and napalm.

It would take out a VH with one drop. Or maybe even a whole city at an AF.

Plonk it on the middle of a town and it should be down.
Earthquake bomb you see,,,,
-
Why ??The 4000lbs bomb we already have is a hangar queen type.
Because it kills only 1 hangar.
there is no big lethal blast modelled.
Big bombs are useless .
-
That is a question of modelling, not reality.
Plonk a 4000 lbs onto a VH packed with GV's and you will make many kills :D
When I fly a bomber, it's often a Lanc, and most of the time I bring a cookie.
If it's a hangar queen it's not being recognized as what it really is..

I don't think the grand slam is such a great idea either. Prretty limited targets for it.
I would rather see the Lanc payload upped to 16,000lbs, where it actually should be.

a 8k or 12k High Explosive 'Cookie' would probably be more effective in AH.
Grand Slam and Tallboy were deep penetration bombs, the tallboy (IIRC) designed by Barnes Wallis (of bouncing bomb fame) to specifically kill the Tirpitz... they missed with the bomb but the giant explosion tipped it over.
A 12k or 8k cookie would flatten a town, easily. They were 4k bomb sections bolted together.
Below is a picture of the bombs used by bomber command: -

the 12k high capacity bomb was first used on 15/16 September 1943

Hey Furbie, I think you have this one wrong:
"they missed with the bomb but the giant explosion tipped it over."
They also hit it actually, 1 or 2, not sure.
Wil try to find the book I have about 617 and look it up
I think one explosion peeled of a 100 fet section of the deck like a can opener.
As for the Grand slam, it was used for the submarine bunkers, right? Penetrated some 7m of reinforced concrete. But also, the effect on built up areas was devastating, since blowing up deep into the ground created a mini earthquake of some strength that easily toppled buildings.
-
Na, go for the Tallboy.
I found the following site to be of intrest in regards to "Very Heavy Conventional Aerial Bombs". It is about Brit and U.S. non-nuke Very Heavy Conventional Aerial Bombs including WWII ones.

I like the B-29 with two Tallboys underwing... Now that slinging iron.

Quite possibly Angus, i know the bombs capsized it, i didnt think any actually got a direct hit but i am probably wrong..

Yes, they hit her on both raids.

Instead discussing about bigger bombs, how about we discuss bigger targets? :)
Just place VERY large cities (like Berlin, London, Amsterdam etc.) far behind the enemy lines so it'll be rather hard to even get there...but when you do...;)
