This is Col Oliver B Taylor's "Pat II".   Still some work to do but I think you get the gist.

Looks good oboe.  Not a Headhunter but whose counting :)

I had the pleasure to talk to Col. Taylor a few years back.  Can't even remember why I tracked him down even.  I think I was trying to track some 14th FG stuff since there is no history of that crew.

There are good photos of his J out there too.  He was sent home from Italy after contracting polio of all things!

I have some more weathering to do but thanks for the comments.

How close are the Osprey profiles for color matching?  I went with "True Blue" from the Skinners Heaven USAAF color resource because it was the closest of the blues listed.   Yet it still doesn't match the Osprey profile's blue, IMO.

The profile also shows it as more greenish than brown drab, though I have 3 layers of color here so I can crank up the brownish drab a bit more...

I have a question of the color of the green to be used - is is more greenish drab as in the Osprey profiles, or is it more of a brownish drab, as I did on my 357th P-51B, and in this artwork:

I'd tend to lean towards the more brownish olive drab, just based on color images of 38s.  Obviously those can fade over time too, but it does seem to favor the brownish OD

If the default skin we have favors green, then go with a brownish skin, if for no other reason than just to give a bigger variety to the scheme library .

OK went with the more brown drab look and submitted to HTC.

Thanks help, all!
