dont do it !

Mitsubishi is in a world of trouble.  They lose value faster than a yugo (well maybe not that bad)

Even buying used is a bad idea at this time.

I was really tempted to buy an Eclipse on a closeout sale...then someone showed me the blue book and how remarkably fast the value drops out from under them.

I dunno... My sister has owned two of them. She loves those cars.

Then again... she put 18" wheels on the second one. I think the added weight was close to 400 pounds... so what does she know? :D

Hi Sandman

Yea, they are sharp cars

I guess what it boils down to...are you buying the car because you simply like/love that make/model....or is resale value something you are going to worry about for trading it in later on in the future.

Car like that...to be honest...I'd drive it into the ground  :)

I used to own a Pajero - Montero looks to be the same wagon.

4WD on it was nice, interior was comfortable. However I found the suspension to be lacking and the engine had continuous electrical probems (V6 3500cc model), especially with the throttle controller getting dirty which let to the engine stalling on idle or overthrottling in neutral. I also found lots of niggly issues like shakes in the steering at certain speeds and poor steering lock.

I ditched the Pajero and went back to an Isuzu Bighorn (aka GMC Trooper/Honda Horizon in the US). I had owned a Bighorn before I got the Pajero. The Bighorn has a better suspension (Lotus) and more reliable engine, I also went to the diesel model - and found the diesel much more economical and reasonably powerful. Its acceleration is not is nice as a V6 petrol engine, but once cruising its actually smoother and quieter.

Visit the sites that RightFoot recommended.

Take note of all the bad reviews and then test drive the vehicle and make your own evaluation. Look for the stuff that made other drivers unhappy with the vehicle and see if you feel the same way.

Hmm, you call an Explorer and Exploder but fail to mention the WJ's misery when it first came out (until 1996).  I think you should put your Rightfoot in yer mouth.

No I think you should put your foot in yours.  The WJ did not come out until 2000 with previous years being called ZJs.  By the way "Exploder" had no bearing on its quality just a common term I've heard.  If I thought the GC was so bad why would I recommend it?

Also, why single out my post? I was in no way being sarcastic and I was just suggesting what I've had experience with.

Thats what I thought...
