Title: KI84 kites
Post by: x0847Marine on March 07, 2005, 06:04:38 PM
It really is BS that with full flaps after a steep climb.. a KI84 will literally hover. It wont fall or spin.. it floats.

It's gotta be a bug or cheat unless someone can point me to some evidence that plane could actually do that.

It's not really a "cheat" unless only 1 person can do it. With practice, almost anyone can do it. More of a flight model issue if it's anything. Just keep that in mind when you're fighting one and plan accordingly:)

it is possible IRL to hang on the power of the prop alone for a number of seconds.

not sure if planes from almost 60 years ago could do it as well as the stunt planes of today but I've seen some awesome stuff at airshows that would make you think the niki/ki84 hover mode is nothing special.

Dont see what the complaint is.
When its hovering and standing still would seem to me to be the best time to make it disintegrate

The Ki84 is a very light plane with a great mass-power ratio, efficient flaps, and very forgiving stall at the top of a vertical zoom. Why wouldn't a nimble plane like the 84 be able to hang like that?

Well actually hanging in the air stationary makes it a good target.
