I just taped a broom handle on my joystick, its alot smoother now and feels/is much more realistic.
here is the link

i heard of someone incorporating a milk jug into their flight set up, anyone else getting creative with their interface layout?
-
This is exactly the sort of post I could only first stumble across at 1:30 in the morning :p
-
hehe this is exactly the extent of the things i can do at 1:30 am :)

LoL, good question?!
-
you couldnt switch views or use the hats. Good idea though someone should make a real flightstick that is taller.
-
the connection device to connect the firing rod is the latest in the kneaded eraser line, i have since upgraded to more tape since the eraser has had a tendancy to let the firing rod slip during high g manuvers. :)
-
Eilif, that's sick.
Here are mine..

i would imagine that you could just extend a joystick by extending and wiring the midsection. or at least with mine it appears that you could. hmmmm.
-
hardcore! those are some pretty creative ideas rt! , looks like they work well too, thats a pretty cool idea running wires out of your keyboard, is it possible to do that with modern ones? im thinking of making a new throttle set up with trim and fov zoom keys mapped to it maybe you can help out!
-
ya jb88, i had some ideas drawn out for that, just need a piece of pvc pipe or something, i may get to that at some point but this broom handle has style!
-
anyone have a link to a good pot manufacturer that goes through the usb port?
-
hey i wonder if i could get aces high or tw to recognize a second joystick! i could just map my ms sidewinder slider for throttle and use the hat on it for trim!
-
Clean up the mess in your room Elif!
-
mess? :0
-
and I thought my setup was a bit untidy...
-

scrol down to "another great advancement" and you will see a pretty nice extension on the flcs kinda like jb88 was talking about.
-
HOLLY HELL!
Thats alot of wires there buddy!
-
Red Green would be very proud of you!

Ive broken a normal stick...imagine the leverage you'd have with one a foot taller?

Ya, you can map a second joystick for the throttle and hat. just disable those points on the first joystick first, then map your second.

My wife thinks I'm crazy.... Just wait till she sees these pictures. Now when she gives me trouble, I can always pull up one of these pics, point and say, "hey, it could be worse"
:rofl
-
unfrickenbeliveable
how do you do anything with all those wires everywhere?
-
Some people have waaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyy too much free time.
-
Dammit boy....where you put your beer....oh nevermind i see you have it taped to the mop handl...err i mean joystick

Well, besides being very practical it's also very visually appealing.
I rate it 9 out of 10 for looks, 9 of 10 for functionality and a perfect ten for craftsmanship. Bravo!
:D
-
its good to know there are some like minded people out there :)
-
You guys are scaring me :)
-
Wouldnt it be about 2 bizzilion times easier...AND more practical to just remove the joystick handle, extend the wires through a hollow PVC pipe (the hot water thick kind), and then reattach at the top?
No loss of features,....and it would be....well gooder.
-
Maybe it would be, but it would never have the class of the one he's made.

what is this "practical" you talk of?
-
At least the wiring around the broom stick is neatly tied off.
Come on! I can't see through my tears of laughter to type!
Best joke in years.
-
Very portable too! Now i know what to do with all the old skateboards I have laying around.
-
no ! Extend YOUR stick ! Pervert.

Thankyou for your post eilif. you have provided me with a credible threat to use against my neatnik wife. she has a glazed look in her eyes, she may be in shock. BBL, I have to resusitate my wife now. :D
-
there was a guy who posted how to take a thrustmaster apart, and actually spot weld or something an extension, keeping the actual grip and all the buttons intact at the end. he just spliced in extra lengths of wire down the tube he inserted.
was amazing, and looked real when finished. he mounted the base permantly in a cockpit, and it looked like the real deal
-
glad i could help ya storch i may just have to start an ah help line for distrought wives:)
-
Blimey. Bet you play wearing flying helmet and goggles too elif!
:lol
-
i extended mine to, pretty sweet. i used one of my old surf boards and the wax holds the stick pretty still. just used a little broom stick type thing and taped it on there. i wear my wetsuit gloves to so i have more grip and no splinters. and the racoon kind of keeps me safe, people stay away cause its got rabies. you can stick your hand inside him and make him squeal, he is also another set of eyes watching the screen..........check it out it is sweet

im ganna cut my old stick in two and put a piece of PBC pipe in between the base and the handle of the stick:aok
-
i have a design like that in the works, but im going to be making it adjustable :)
-
soon htc will have to implement a default "extended stick" option in the calibration with all the extensions we got going :)
