Just because I have owned it for 2.5 years and only put 2,204 miles on it.

I'd sell it on eBay. I once sold a car on eBay.

What a nice bike!   Sometimes I wish I hadn't sold mine.

I didn't know people had grass lawn in Phoenix.

They could copy the Harley Davidson logo if they changed a few letters.

Yeah, then it could sell for twice as much and be less of a bike all at the same time.

......or if it was an HD then you could be selling it for a few thou more than the original selling price instead of it depreciating so rapidy.

Very True.

Harleys, BMWs, Old brit Iron, Ducatis and even the newer Triumphs all hold their value. Rice burners don't just burn rice they burn dollars/pounds in depreciation too.

I've got a relatively new Triumph and had to chuckle the other day when I noticed it leaking a bit. I figure it's just marking it's territory.

What is it and where does it leak from?
Title: Okay, I quit my job...now selling this.
Post by: GrimCO on March 08, 2005, 12:24:51 PM
It's oil,

Haven't searched to find the source of the leak yet. Definitely coming from above the oil pan though.

A few years back a buddy of mine ordered a new harley, he had it sold for a nice profit before he even received it. I don't know what it is about them, and I am not sure if demand is still that high, but at the time they were selling faster than they could make them.

I looked at some bikes last year and I was looking at yamaha cruising bikes, I could have got a real nice one for about 8-10k, used even cheaper. But that dirty word is has become part of my vocabulary as the years have passed.....practical.

Nice looking bike.

Man I wish I lived where you live. Palm trees and warm weather. Here it is -15 C and windy, being that it is mid March we only have maybe 8 more weeks of crappy weather to look forward to.

lol! maybe in a few months I will be.

I really just wanted an excuse to post a picture of the bike ( again) after I washed it that day. I then took some pics and placed an add in traderonline. Now just waiting for the add to be approved.

It's a pretty awesome bike, but I had it for over two years and just hardly ever rode it.

Don't sell it just go ride it.

Want it more practical for lugging stuff? Put two wheels on the back and a tow hitch. One awsome trike.

Just a thought.

Hey there Skydancer, it's a '98 Triumph 595 Daytona. My favorite bike I've owned so far. I'm gonna buy a cruiser again, but I'm keeping the Trumpet. Just can't part with it...

With all respect Nuke, but how do you manage to own a bike for that long and only do 2000 miles?

well...it's just that I never found the time or had the desire to ride it that much. I used to travel a lot and work a lot.

Where I live, it's too damn hot to ride for about 6 months out of the year anyway. When I was young I could take it......now I'd rather not.

Needless to say, it was not a good investment :)

Still, it's a kick to ride.....so much torque and raw power.

Most of the miles I put on it were nice rides though....not just commutes around town.

Grimco check the rubber seal on the rocker / valve cover. If its been serviced recently and the shims have been done thern sometimes the rubber seal gets put back wrongly and bingo oil leak. It'll be running down the whole block. Its not  under too much pressure in the cambox so it'll run down the motor rather than mist.

Thanks buddy,

That's the first place I'll look. I have the bike in the hangar right now for the winter, but come spring I'll be riding the bejeezus out of it again  :-)

Thanks again,

Grimmy

And it seems that you have nothing better to do than hound this BBs persona until you obtain some kind of strange pleasure by seeing him leave? Is that what you meant to say.

I find this all a bit strange realy.

So you think I shouldn't be trying to help GrimCo out with his oil leak? Or making observations as to what I see read , or posting what I think?

Do you ever wonder if you or some of the others with this Zulu obsession are behaving slightly wierd. Check out the start dates on these names. I did. I been here a while longer. With a break, but longer anyhow.

Get over it Lazs, Toad, Lute et al.

Now thats it I think I responded to this  stuff long enough.
How about we move on to more interesting topics.
