Title: Disappearing objects
Post by: Raptor on March 08, 2005, 08:08:04 PM
You can see the objects fine when at the same alt as them. But the higher you go the objects begin to disappear (as seen in pictures below).

I am using the ground objects from factories, airfields, etc. to make the actual Island. Any Ideas as of how to correct this?

If you have made that base in OE, it is important to check the index order. The ground should be the lowest number (it is renrered first and others only after it)

The pictures do not tell the problem exactly, but could it be that you have some ground object that is higher than on ground level? Then if you have placed those buildings to ground level, they are sunk below your ground object...

Well.. just guesses :)

Yes, the index order is also the draw order.  Lower numbers get drawn first.  Ground, roads... should all be first in your OE file.

I made it in the TE by building individual objects from the OE such as hangars. All objects are at ground level, you can see them just fine when sitting on the runway at the same level, but as you start to gain alt they start to disappear. And they are not touching grid lines, you can see where they are seperated from each other in order to not touch gridlines (used the snap tool to make sure).

(Picture taken from TE)

Do I have to build it in the Object Editor first THEN convert it to the TE as one object for each grid?

That would be the best way to do it Raptor.  Build the tile in the OE, then import it to the TE.

That is how we did all our standard tiles (safld0, mafld0, and so on).

Raptor - are your objects on level ground?  (I know, basic, but just to be sure it's good to check).

Cheers,
