I had never tried these until just a few weeks ago.

Man... I'm going through these like mad. Can't get enough.

may be a dumb question, I've never even heard of them until now.

But, what do they taste like? I may have to find some and give 'em a try.

They taste like brown sugar... sort of.

The skin has an odd taste also... I'm going to have to eat another and see if I can describe it. :)

  That's a good description!  I like the ones that have a texture much like what you would imagine a cockroach would have. :D

The only thing similar between prunes and dates is that they're dried.

Now, if you had said prunes and apricots, I would agree.

Haalva is great too (Dentist will not agree) But like Straffo was going to say... eat a lot of those, and a thousand camel fleas will infest your armpits!

it's a middle east pastry (Lebanon , Syrias etc ...)

I found a recipe in english :

Basicly it's sugar + sugar + sugar + honey :D

If you REALLY wanna try something wonderful..... put some cream cheese on them....   Incredible!:)

One of my coworkers said that yesterday. She said to put cream cheese on it and then wrap it with bacon and bake it.

Sounded interesting.

I can't recall ever eating Baklava... one more thing on my list. :)

I just smear some cream cheese on them and eat them as a desert.  yummmm.....
