If life gives you snow, make snowade (hmmm, doesn't seem to work as well as with lemons and lemonade).

Snowscapes always remind me of 1930s movies in black and white.  Everything basic.

Then comes the spring and color again.

Spent a winter in snowbound Boston and took a house hunting trip to Virginia.  Previous job switches had been from west to east with no dramatic climate shifts.

This was my first north to south transfer, and it was breathtaking seeing the warmth grow in every mile.

When I crossed the Potomac River into Virginia, I knew I was home, and have been here ever since.

What is snow????

Today there is a pale blue sky with a real bright object in it. It's also 84 degrees and I need to run the AC again. Tucson has boring weather.......

13c, sunny, and windy as hell...but for the past week weve had calm, sunny 10c, quite nice considering 2 years ago we had -20, and 3 years ago 2 feet of snow...

i blame global wonky weather...

75 and clear here.

I was in the snow a couple of times.

I didn't like it.. it was wet and cold and there was like zero traction.

I guess that's why I always put in a rock "garden". No mowing and the use of a good preemergent kept weeds out.  Besides I have some rather nasty alergies to the common lawn plant out west.

Chinese rock gardens can actually be very cool. Lots of work, though.

A few tonnes of cement will fix that for you Maverick. You could also move to aunt arctica, or arctica where the icebears live.

Well, that sounds....... rather dumb. ;) What I do now is simply go where I want to and let someone else take care of the lawn and weeding etc. while I just look at it. :D

No matter what, it's still sunny and warm here right now.:p

If you don't mow your lawn its no longer a lawn, its just grass.

In the olden days, they used to eat the groundhog after he predicted winter's arrival.

I like mowing the lawn. I find work outside very enjoyable. Shoveling snow on the other hand is a pain, thats why snowblowers were invented.

And the lawnmower is for mowing lawns. Or do you do it by hand with a pair of sissors?

There is one hottie on that rig in Armageddon. Why not on yours? Are you a the looser rig?

Don't be too impressed. The connection sucks but email with the family is nice.

We are just coming up on Fall down here (opposite seasons and all). Instead of hot and sweaty we will go to cool and rainy. But you should see how the locals bundle up when it gets down to about 50-60 degrees. You would think they were up there with FiLtH. They will wear wool caps, gloves and thick jackets.

As far as the "looser rig" comment, you are quite right. Afterall, everything in the movies is true.

Usually a movie will insult and totally misrepresent one industry or group for the sake of entertainment. Armageddon managed to insult two industries at once (oil and space).

Working on a oil rig has some setbacks I assume, but it think you get a pretty penny for being a engineer on one of those.

Oh, be still my heart...

Storm, could you please email me a job application? I know all about oil and other lubricants, and if there's 98 men trapped on an oil rig, sweating in 94 degree heat, then I'll work for free.
